Could not be prouder of all the US citizens that show appreciation to the men and women in the US military, who willingly offer their lives to protect this country so that we all can experience the freedoms we have, I am a veteran and 66 years old. I live in South Africa and can tell you there is no greater country in the world with people who appreciate and at times give their very lives for a country. We are truly a country blessed by God.

  13. Jeff Rowe November 11, 2022 at 2:10 am

These offerings are amazing and greatly appreciated. When I finished my active duty in 1973, I could not have imagined anyone offering gestures of thanks to military veterans.

Proud to have served! Twenty years Army. Was a WAC, too! :) Apr74 to May94. Before it was “Army Strong” and “Be All You Can Be”, I joined when the song was “Join the people who joined the Army. You could start living your tomorrow today!”. Anyone remember that?

  18. Dorothy November 11, 2022 at 12:41 am

  19. Tom November 11, 2022 at 12:01 am

Word to the wise: Call ahead. I’m in Oregon and most of these businesses either aren’t honoring these discounts, or they are markedly different from what these offers state. For instance, there are 4 Flying Pie restaurants in Oregon, and none are offering any sort of Veterans Day deal. They may offer %10 off the bill. Most of the places I called today had employees who had no idea what I was talking about or even if there was any sort of Veterans Day deal at their establishment. Yeah, I know, Oregon! Props to all of the businesses that are making deals, and to all of the veterans who deserve them

  24. Carrie M Christman November 10, 2022 at 10:59 pm

It is all appreciated. I hope other veterans realize this gift from businesses, and patronize them the rest of the year. I only go to places I go to. I have a sticker for sonic, so I won’t take up a slot for other vets’. The coffee is a great thing, how much can we drink, smile.

    Enjoy the breakfast and meals.

Glad Golden Coral is on the 14th, I wish Perkins was.

    Thank every where you go.

  28. Robin Flynn November 10, 2022 at 9:38 pm

It’s not about the “freebies”. Veterans Day is to remember those lost and support those who have served, and our future in America and abroad.
I didn’t join the Navy for future freebies, I did it to help protect America! I thank all who had passed and all vets and those serving today!!
    God bless us all!

  29. David Anthony Cookman November 10, 2022 at 9:28 pm

I’m a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the son of a Korean War decorated Air Force Fighter Pilot who was shot down and jumped out
of his P-51 Mustang over North Korea. His parachute caught fire upon leaving his plane and he ended up falling into a reservoir bordering North and South Korea. He was picked up by a local fisherman and not knowing whether or not the fisherman was sympathetic towards Americans my father pulled his service pistol and with water dripping from the barrel demanded to be taken to the South shore. He spent six weeks in a hospital in Seoul, Korea and returned to duty to fly an F-86D jet and finished his 100 missions over Korea.
Our immediate family was a proud family of six, four of which served our country honorably and a Mother that raised all of her “boys” to respect their fellow person and stood by her husband and helped him retire respectfully, Lt. Col. Lawrence Wharton Cookman. May they both Rest In Peace. God Bless the Veterans Administration and God Bless America.

Wow many of these places used to give a full free meal, now it’s off of a select menu or a free entre rather than a full free meal. Makes it not really worth taking the time anymore.

  37. Respect for all November 10, 2022 at 8:14 pm

Thank you all veterans for keeping our country safe.

  38. Dave November 10, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Not to sound greedy but some restaurants give so little but take credit for doing something good one day a year ! Freedom is not free , veterans volunteer their lives for years ! At what cost death , loss of limbs , PTSD for life after volunteering!

  39. Daniel November 10, 2022 at 7:36 pm

I rarely use any of these links or accept any of these “free” meals as a “Thank You” for my military service. You want to thank me for my service? Really? Then I want a letter of apology from my government for sending me home with swine flu right in the middle of a full blown epidemic without telling anyone of us. I want a letter of apology from the city officials who refused to protect us from the protestors who were spitting all over us and our uniforms when we were just trying to get home, not realizing yet that our own government had sold us all out to the VC government. I want an apology from the VA for treating us like sh*t and mental cases when we are decent human beings trying to cope from day to day and not become one of the “22” like our brothers and sisters who made the list. Frankly, I tire of people coming up to me and thanking me for my service because coming from most of them it sounds so rehearsed, trite, put on, like an old record that keeps playing the same tune so many times you’re sick of hearing it. I wonder if you’d be thanking some of us if you truly knew what we did for our country during Vietnam – I scarce say not.

      Amen brother

    • Norman Rosenblatt November 10, 2022 at 10:52 pm

Good advice, Anthony. But you made a typo. You said “A F TIP,” I’m sure you meant “A BIG TIP.”

    • Harry Faulls November 11, 2022 at 5:25 am

A lot of our Vet won’t get anything free. There in the ground on free day you should leave there tip

RECOMMENDATION: Could the website have a location filter to only show local establishments?

  63. Rhonda Hunt Phillips November 10, 2022 at 10:49 am

Thank you for this listing. It shows the support and appreciation businesses have for our country’s Veterans.

The price of freedom is not free…Veteran’s continue to pay the price for all Americans.

  64. John McGilvary November 10, 2022 at 10:40 am

Saw an email from Coco’s – looks like their meal is free, not BOGO. As with all of these, call first to be sure before you go. Thanks to those honoring our vets, and fellow shipmates (that includes those shorebound,) who served!

  67. r kadanka November 10, 2022 at 10:08 am

To me, there are two (2) NEEDED functions and/or communications: 1) HOW do I simplify / sort the list? Such a “in or near San Antonio Texas.” 2) Then, HOW do I “EDIT” the list?

    • JimmyJay November 10, 2022 at 1:34 pm

Just read it – don’t be lazy, it’s all free stuff.

      • J Will November 10, 2022 at 6:06 pm

Nothing wrong with working smarter, not harder.

      • Don Pruitt November 10, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Much of the free stuff is not only regional, but is micro-regional. For example, some of the south has a Chick-fil-A deal, but most of the country says,
“Sorry, not here”. I’d rather a company makes a special reward for all vets that visit their company, rather than “only if you are a ‘southern’ vet. it is just more of Chick-fil-A’s hypocrisy. Same for TA Stopping Centers, etc.

    • Helen Taylor November 10, 2022 at 5:00 pm

I appreciate how you serve us because we served. I would appreciate if we could get anything that has just local restaurant listing for veterans day free meals. Also, it would be appreciated if they had more offers for half-hour for those of us that are wounded, unable to get out. Thank You so much.

    • Frank Moore November 11, 2022 at 4:17 am

Nothing is wrong with the list, call your local vendors for confirmation….just that simple….

  68. James Bower, The Veterans Friend™ November 10, 2022 at 9:48 am

How come military spouses not included ?

    • Ben Dover November 10, 2022 at 12:19 pm

Because they didn’t serve in the US military. That’s why.

      • Cheryl james November 10, 2022 at 5:17 pm

Those who stand by and wait also serve (vet and former navy wife).

      • Daniel November 10, 2022 at 7:40 pm

Know that they supported this country in ways that we’ll never understand by running a home single handedly, raising the children alone, managing the bills, and coping with the tremendous stress of whether or not they’d see the chaplain’s vehicle pull up outside their residence or get that “letter” in the mail. I think that deserves a free meal don’t you?

      • Stephanie Basile November 10, 2022 at 10:22 pm

Spouses serve every day alongside their military members!

      • Stan Ross November 10, 2022 at 11:37 pm

Those who set and wait, also serve, regardless of gender. AH

    • Dave November 10, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Were you on a ship ? Did you have boots on the ground ? Did you jump out a helicopter? On a sub ? No you was home a safe home living a normal life , you married a military man knowing what they do , PROTECT AMERICA AND MORE !

  80. Randall Collins November 9, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Thank you to all the merchants for showing their appreciation. Really like the offers of get a voucher for later, saves on the huge crowds that are often seen.

  81. Daphne November 9, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Wow… I had fun just scrolling all the offers. Thank you.

  85. Ian Williams November 9, 2022 at 7:29 pm

The dates on California Pizza Kitchen are wrong. Whoever put this together did not incorporate the company website. It clearly states only the 11th for the free meal and complimentary non-alcoholic beverage.

That was deliberately designed to trick veterans into going in early and being turned away because the restaurant was not doing the promotion yet.

What is wrong with va.gov? You are supposed to be a paragon of truth, honesty and fidelity to the American way. I see this slight for what it is. A blatant disregard for the sacrifices of those who have served.

You give us accurate information or you don’t put it up on the internet. HAVE I made myself clear!

    • Greg Watkins November 10, 2022 at 10:15 am

Yeah, believe me you made yourself clear…

My thanks to all who did this though. I hope the rest of us will honor our fallen vets who weren’t able to make it back by showing appreciation to all these vendors, showing the best of what vets are.

    • S. Rost November 10, 2022 at 2:55 pm

      You are special…
