Signed into law Aug. 10, 2022, the PACT Act is the largest expansion of Veteran health care and benefits in generations. It will benefit millions of Veterans of the Vietnam War, Gulf War and post-9/11 eras who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxins while serving our country — and their survivors.
During the month of July, VA is hosting a nationwide Summer VetFest, where local VA facilities will host events to inform Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors about the PACT Act and encourage them to apply for the health care and benefits they have earned. There will be more than 50 events, one in each state, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
The events will be casual summer gatherings where Veterans can meet with VA health care and benefits professionals who serve them. Many will feature food and music, and VA staff will be ready to help Veterans apply for PACT Act-related benefits (or submit an intent to file), enroll in VA health care, get screened for toxic exposures, and more.

VA has prepared this PACT Act Stakeholder Toolkit for you to use and share information about VA’s expansion of health care eligibility for Veterans.
Expansion eliminates phased-in approach called for by the PACT Act. Millions of Veterans exposed to toxins now eligible for VA health care without first applying for VA benefits.
Veterans have applied for benefits at record rates over the past year. As a result of your applications, VA has been able to deliver more earned benefits to more Veterans than ever before, including $150 billion during 2023 alone.

I learned that I have no right to see any X-ray, CT, or MRI. EVER!! And I also learned that if it’s not in my medical records, then it’s not real. If you are missing a leg but it’s not in your medical records, then you can’t get disability benefits. There is a lot of things you can’t get when doctors don’t put the necessary information in your medical records. They work very hard to make sure I never have a dollar to my name.

I was in Vietnam 1970-71 in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in many areas contaminated with Agent Orange. We guarded the 919th Engineers who were destroying the trees killed by it. Do I apply for a disability through VA?
there are different ways to apply: normally 3…
1) by yourself thru the VA
2) using a Veteran Service officer (normally employed by the state) not sure for Guam.
3) several NON-PROFIT Veterans groups help with this, like a Veteran Service officer would.
*****note you should never have to pay for this thru the above mentioned. and at the top they have a number listed…..I am sure they would have some good information for you.
Please don’t wait and start getting all your paperwork together……if you keep in contact with any follow service members from your unit, will probably need them to write a letter (and the government has a form for this) to verify the deployment and the duties you completed there. It will take some work on your part, don’t lose hope. IF you have someone you trust to help you, I would get them on board from the start.

I don’t see the state of Colorado on the list either. The article states there will be one in every state. But the states list is very short.
Why no Hawaii, Texas or Arkansas events?
What about all the many vets here in Tampa, Florida, that are vets that retired out of Centcom & Socom who have lots of time at Camp LeJeunne?
Hey this is great, the article says its in all 50 states, and you only listed 13. Not sure when its at on the other 37 states or where but hey at least your trying or did someone just forget how to count?

Question; Does the PACT act include Korean era chemical exposures?
I served in OIF III. Years ago, I completed the first portion of the burn pit registry. I then tried to get the second portion-examination from the VA. The VA informed me that there was no examination for this. Only when I went back to the VA for other issues was when my emphysema was recognized. It was at this time I was swept off into applying for compensation under the PACT Act. Took almost a year to find out – NO compensation as the VA had tied my emphysema compensation claim to the compensation I was already receiving for Sleep Apnea? How do those two connect? To get an understanding of why, I’ll have to submit an appeal (Another year I’ll have to wait for a response). My point here is, the VA makes a big deal, makes the PACT Act as the greatest thing to ever happen for Vets and to find out, they do nothing for you. I retired in 2006 and have had to fight the VA for each and every claim I ever submitted. I did receive service connection for my emphysema PACT Act claim, which is good, but for them to go and tie my compensation to my sleep apnea? Copout!!! Would have been nice to have this explained as the letter I received doesn’t lead into the weeds of why. Well, you all have fun with it and wish you well. So sad that Vets even have to fight to get for their benefits.

I have two brothers that served in Vietnam for about 3 years and came home with these sickness from burn pits and contaminated me also I’m a veteran also myself can I apply for this pact act benefits
I would like to know when are they going to start investigating fort McClellan Alabama where I came through the military police training I was exposed to something down there and now the whole post had to be closed down because of toxic waste

When I was in Vietnam I was exposed to agent orange daily and knew nothing about it. Years later I heard about my exposure. I feel slam ducked and angry. Why did this have to happen??
laura thank you for your service. i came out of viet-nam in 1965 later tested for prostate cancer, yep came back as some bad stuff 28 weeks of treatments an it still hangs on.had my exam today for some stuff you have a good day

Pact act only for active duty soldiers.What about the thousands of contractors that were there.Didn’t know that we were breathing different air then them.Remember that most of the contractors that was there were also veterans.
That’s why you were compensated so highly…remember working next to the soldiers who made peanuts in comparison? Read the fine print next time and be happy you are alive….
