Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center provides primary care and specialty health services, including treatment for hearing loss (audiology), pain management, cardiology, dermatology, hospice and palliative care, cancer treatment (oncology), mental health services, laboratory services and more.
The facility is named after Louis A. Johnson, who practiced law in Clarksburg before serving in World War I, while Clarksburg was named for General George Rogers Clark. During the Civil War, the community served as a supply depot of the Union Army.
Today, Clarksburg is a cultural center of the region and hosts many events and festivals, including the annual West Virginia Italian Heritage and West Virginia Black Heritage festivals.
