Are you a Veteran seeking to reconnect with your inner strength, find new purpose and build lasting connections? The Unbroken Spirit 2025 programs are here to guide you on a transformative journey toward personal growth and resilience. The Unbroken Spirit mission is simple: Empower Veterans by strengthening their body, mind and spirit, helping them create a life filled with meaning and purpose.

Unbroken Spirit offers a free three-phase program tailored to meet the needs of every Veteran. Through Pre-Deployment, Deployment and Post-Deployment phases, the program provides a structured path to well-being and long-term growth.

Here’s how it works.

Phase I (Virtual)

The program begins by equipping participants with the tools to enhance their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. This phase focuses on building a mindset rooted in hope, resilience and the skills needed to achieve your goals. Participants should leave this phase feeling ready to take on life’s challenges and empowered to build a fulfilling, purpose-driven life.

Phase II (In-person, Asheville, NC)

Experience a five-day wilderness adventure in the stunning landscapes of North Carolina. This immersive journey—whether it’s backpacking in May, adaptive sports experiences in July, or a fall expedition in September—promotes healing through nature, camaraderie and personal challenges. Together with fellow Veterans, you’ll draw on your strengths, develop new skills and forge bonds that last a lifetime.

Phase III (Virtual)

Your journey doesn’t end in the wilderness. The program ensures that every participant receives ongoing mentor-guided support tailored to their needs. This phase reinforces self-confidence, sense of purpose and leadership skills, enabling you to lead yourself and others in your family, community and beyond. At Unbroken Spirit, no Veteran is ever left behind.

Veteran Andrea, a Navy retiree, described her experience with Unbroken Spirit as life-changing: “After retiring, I felt adrift without the camaraderie and direction that once guided me. Unbroken Spirit transformed my life. I regained my focus, purpose and, most importantly, my sense of self-worth.”

The Unbroken Spirit 2025 programs are now accepting applications for these program dates:

Spring Backpacking Experience: May 20-25, 2025

Adaptive Sports Experience: July 21-27, 2025

Fall Expedition: September 16-21, 2025

Space is limited; interviews begin in January and February, so don’t wait to apply.

This is supposed to be a space/place for peace of mind, healing, & bond building. I find no pleasure in any of the aforementioned when sabotaged by political ideas, interpretations, & blind support. Leave your politics and home

I’m the President of Boots on the Trail. We incorporated as a nonprofit in Ohio on June 14th of 2024. We provide free Ecotherapy for Veterans. Yesterday we hosted our 15th trail event. What we do is get a group of Vets together on one of the trail in SE Ohio for a few hours and do light trail maintenance. The Vets love it and we have developed a core following that looks forward to each event. Yesterday we had Vets ranging in age from 26 to 68 years of age. We are looking for funding to set up chapters of Boots on the Trail so that at some point no Vet will need to drive more than 20 minutes to attend a BOTT event with their fellow Vets. How can you help us achieve or goal?

Is there a program like this in Central Arizona? I’d help work it for those who need it. I’m trying to by land in the mountains and could even create a course or adventure there.

I’m a Vietnam veteran I served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. I have found peace in Fly Fishing. If there are outings involving Fly Fishing I would love to help and mentor veterans that have never fly fish. I’m sure there are plenty of Orvis endorsed places that would love to give Veterans a taste of solitude camaraderie using Fly Fishing to put your mind at ease.

    WHAT ABOUT Fishing ?

  7. Jerry Evans January 23, 2025 at 08:51

What is the cost to participate?

I work at a VA facility in Florida. I am at my desk and read this article and thought I might apply. THE VA ADMINISTRATION HAS BLOCKED DOING SO. Unacceptable. This is for Veterans. Let’s ride America. Go President DJT!

    • WILLIAM LEDGER January 23, 2025 at 10:59

your belief in the Orange Mook is amazing after the way he dissed Vets i dont understand how you can even think about supporting him and his cronies. Just because you feel it is unacceptable because they did not recognise you doesn’t mean that the program is unacceptable. In the 90s i had done two Outward Bounds with the VA and it opened me right up and to this day i practice alot of what i learned. Your attitude needs rewinding. If you are working at a VA then you need to feel a deep priviledge doing the work you do to keep Veterans whole and alive. This is all you need. Why do you feel you need more? DJT is no one to follow if you feel you need more.

      • Chris January 23, 2025 at 12:41

Sounds like your attitude of division also needs rewinding. This country needs more and deserves more but it starts with each of us respecting each other and not putting other down for their views because we don’t agree with them. You might not like or agree with the “Orange Mook” but there is no reason to insult him or the majority of Americans who also believe in what his views are.

        • Dwight Garner January 23, 2025 at 16:40

Kinda rich there suggesting not putting others down for their views because we don’t agree with them when that is all the “Orange Mook” does. Suckers and losers ring any bells? Also, the majority of the population does not believe in or support his views, only a small majority of those who voted… 60% stayed home.

Once again those with TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) are loth to cite actual facts and continue to simple recite liberal talking points and actual “disinformation”.
Published by Statista Research Department, Dec 13, 2024
Number of registered voters in the U.S.
            161.42m
Share of adults aged 35 to 49 motivated to vote in 2024 -more than those in 2020 in the U.S.
            46%
The FACTS are that not only is it a LIE that 60% stayed home…. but that 46% MORE voted than in 2020….. and the majority of those VOTED for “The Orange Mook”.
Bottom line is the huge corrupt swamp is scared to death that TRUMP has been investigated, charged, probed, set-up, lied about, SHOT AT, more than any presidential candidate… ALL with absolutely NO findings of wrongdoing. He OWES NO ONE – ANYTHING. So the deep state can’t control him, they can’t blackmail him, they can’t bribe him !!! He is going to blow the F%&$*# lid off the establishment and break it into pieces.
All the truly corrupt liberal, woke democrats (and some republicans) are not only going to lose their power and illicit $$$, many will likely be going to jail !! The PEOPLE have spoken !!!
Truth matters, facts matter, elections have consequences.
All you hateful liberal lying people need to get over it !
We won, you lost. Now normal, conservative, Christian, reasonable leadership rules the day and you can get on board or get out of the way !

          Amen brother!

      • EJ Wahl January 28, 2025 at 18:32

Donald J Trump is your President. He has earned your respect and I am danm proud of who he is and what he has done and will do. If you can’t handle it go hang out with Biden or Harris. I’ll bet they will tell you to piss off.

    • David Nieves January 31, 2025 at 13:05

I am now looking for help, need a purpose driven activity to keep positive now that I am 66 yo . But seeing post of traitor vets supporting what the dictator wannabe has proposed cutting benefits is beyond stupidity and ignorance. To all the vets that support the convicted traitor in chief just wait and see how proud you will be when he gets thru destroying their lives.

I am not sure anyone will actually get this or read it. This relates to the potential of taking part in the excursion into the Asheville, NC area coming up in July 21 – 27, 2025. I have spent a lot of time as a veteran volunteering in Asheville and the local area. I did four deployments there as a member of Team Rubicon. I spent three weeks working on or around the Veterans Restoration Quarters located on Tunnel Road in Asheville which was right next to the Swannanoa River which flooding resulted in swallowing entire homes and condominiums/apartment complexes, resulting in the deaths of hundreds in that area. I spent one week in very arduous conditions building what were called tiny homes in the town of Swannanoa. There is a lot (a lot) of damage still there in that area and it will be for years. I would love to be in this group that goes to the pisgah national forest and help them understand what has happened there to that local populace and the trauma those people have gone through and will be for years. Taking a group there and helping the local economy is a great thing to do as many (many) of these tourist type businesses have gone out of business and will never make it back. We would be going there as a group of veterans with our own trauma and issues to deal with, however we would be right in the middle of where trauma happened on such a scale many of those civilians will have a hard time dealing with for years just like PTSD. This trip would not only be helpful to veterans, but a blessing to that local community….
