The 2025 Committed to America’s Heroes Sweepstakes from Hiring Our Heroes is officially open. This annual initiative honors the service of the nation’s military community by giving one lucky Veteran, transitioning service member or military spouse the keys to a brand-new Toyota vehicle.

More than just a giveaway, this sweepstakes is a celebration of the resilience, dedication and service of the military community—made possible through a decade-long partnership between Hiring Our Heroes and Toyota, two organizations committed to empowering Veterans and their families.

Last year, Army Veteran Greg Riggs was selected as the winner and chose a 2025 Toyota 4Runner as his prize. His story highlights how seeking support can lead to unexpected opportunities. He first learned about the sweepstakes through the VetResources newsletter.

“I was going through a hard time and reached out to VA to talk to somebody. That is when I started getting the VA newsletter and saw something about the contest. So, if I hadn’t reached out for resources, I would never have entered,” Riggs said.

Months after entering, he received a call from Hiring Our Heroes with exciting news—he had won!

Watch the moment Greg received his vehicle and hear his inspiring journey.

Whether you’re a Veteran, transitioning service member or military spouse, don’t miss out—submit your entry today.

I wanted to update my information, but was told my email was used already.

    Please advise.

don’t want it for me. My American Legion Post needs the money, so i would raffle it off so the Post can continue with all the great programs they offer.

Two: Cash in lieu of the vehicle should be an option, especially if the winner should be homeless or otherwise in dire financial trouble.

How about listing all of these nonprofits with the names of their board and executive officers and their annual compensation! That information would be educational for everyone. How do they use the information gathered from those who enter their sweepstakes?

  5. Carl Terhune August 23, 2025 at 14:34

    Much appreciated

  6. Dennis Marty August 22, 2025 at 16:48

I am so thankful for the VA, they have helped me out in every way possible.

  7. T. Anderson August 22, 2025 at 16:12

Veterans of the Armed Forces are positioned in many areas of the United States and the world and yet these sweepstakes are only for those who live in the contiguous States.

I find it disgraceful and bias that those of us who do not live in the contiguous States are not regarded as veterans worthy of recognition and benefits offered to others.

This information could have been provided prior to my personal information being submitted, but the deception allowed you to collect it for gain. Shame on you!

Well since I was scammed out of 203k. I tried to make money in the trading market with loans I took out. I intended to be able to pay them off fast and to be able to buy my wife a new car without having payments on it. The car was going to be her birthday present and today is her birthday so I had to settle for a bottle of wine. Military retirement is not greatest even after 38 years and 2 deployments. She would really love a new car since her present car is falling apart.

This is very nice of Toyota to do something like this for us veterans ! I am a disabled vet from wounds received in Viet-Nam. Things have changed a lot since the first day back home from there . God Bless America !

  11. Robert Stewart August 21, 2025 at 18:29

Boy, to win a new car that would be nice. My cousin Anita came down to my mother’s house and said, Aunt Mable, I have one ticket left for the new car Drawing on Christmas morning. So, the story my mother tells: Sure I’d like to buy a ticket let me find some money She scrowned up pennies nickels and Dimes and bought a 50 Cent ticket. Christmas morning at high Mass she won that brand new car 1940 Chevrolet, one month later I was born. Well I’ve never had that kind of luck. But I’d like to give it a try.

Well, this is very nice of Toyota. I am an 80 year old hundred percent disabled airborne veteran. Never had a new car might be nice for daylight driving that is.

Next time you want to honor American hero’s how about honing them with a car built in America. A lot of American hero work the assembly lines right here in the good ol USA, and the profits from there sale stays in this country.

    • Jeremy August 21, 2025 at 22:44

A lot of Japanese cars are made in America. And a lot of American cars aren’t. You have old intel

      • Ron August 24, 2025 at 16:11

Exactly right. Toyota, the largest auto manufacturer in the world, has several plants in the U.S. which provide thousands of well paying jobs for Americans.

      To whom it may concern,

      You, you & your team,
The Toyota company’s honors “VETRANS” and that is absolutely AWESOME.

•In retrospect, there are 1000’s of VETRANS, THAT ARE FAR MORE IN NEED !
•HONOR THEM, CHANGE THEIR LIFE, WITH YOUR AWESOME TOYOTA ?.

Great opportunity not just for a sweepstakes but for a Veteran who might be looking for employment. Got to spread the word even if it lowers my chances. lol

I am the wife of an army veteran. Can I possibly win a car. ?

  21. richard Junior stephens August 21, 2025 at 12:56

thanks to the V.A. and Toyota

  22. Former Army Dump Truck driver August 21, 2025 at 11:59

This is kind of a nice perk to being a veteran and The VA is doing a good job bringing the opportunity to veterans in that regard. A free vehicle would be nice.

  23. G A Depue August 21, 2025 at 11:57

Thank you Toyota for recognizing veterans for the assistance you are offering us. It is greatly appreciated and very badly needed.

  24. Bruce Wideman August 21, 2025 at 09:55

Thanks for the chance to win a new vehicle

  25. Mike H August 21, 2025 at 09:15

There is no mention of retired military eligibility. Most retired military are also veterans as am I. Are we not eligible to enter the sweepstakes? Please let me know.

  26. Gerald Linzmeye August 21, 2025 at 08:30

Hire the vet Its good business

  27. Anna Anderson August 21, 2025 at 04:33

How do I know if I’ve already entered or not?

  28. Michelle Lynn August 21, 2025 at 00:43

This did not strike me as VA news. It seems mostly like a commercial. Win a car! Get 60% off! Is anyone else here old enough to remember TV shows like “Queen for a day,” or go to the fairs and have people yelling about trying to knock the clown off of his perch and win a prize (of course, you had to pay to use the hucksters ball). Your stated three topics are: Hiring Our Heroes; Sweepstakes; and, Toyota. 33% of your stated topics, 1 in 3 of your stated topics, is directly aimed at Vets. I am a Vet (in case you are wondering). I retired after 20 years of service and when it says this email going to be about VA news, that is what I am expecting.

  29. Gary & Carol Stacks August 20, 2025 at 23:18

I dream of having a new vehicle so my spouse and I can travel. We have a car on its last legs!! Tires and rims are decinigrating right before us. I was so happy to see that companies are joining with VA to make someone feel good and possibly change their life.
I say, “Way to go Toyota”. What a great opportunity to help veterans transitioning from active service to civilian life, all Veterans and their spouses are included.

  30. Joe August 20, 2025 at 22:09

RE: America’s heroes, would it make sense to offer an American car?

    • Tony August 21, 2025 at 13:27

We assemble vehicles in North America from different countries. At this time USA does not have a car build from scratch. It’s important to note that no car is 100% made in the US. The automotive industry relies on a global supply chain, meaning parts come from various countries. However, many popular models from both American and foreign brands are assembled in US factories.
The American car companies provides only discounts to Veterans. They do not participate in an event like this like Toyota.

  31. Eddy Martinez August 20, 2025 at 21:53

    Awesome for the Vets

  32. Randall S Stone August 20, 2025 at 21:30

Thank you for the recognition of America’s Veterans as well as our current military men and women. We must always recognize their sacrfice and service to our country.

  33. Evonne Hicks August 20, 2025 at 20:44

I haven’t been able to afford a new vehicle since returning home from Iraq. This will get me back to living and earning another income. I will feel whole again also life changing.

  34. Alan R Tedesco August 20, 2025 at 20:43

The VA gave life back to my friend. He was a machine gunner in Viet Nam. He got very sick and I took him to the VA facility in Ann Arbor Michigan. I was going there to register as a Navy vet. But he wasn’t going until he was got sick. It became a life giving miracle the moment we stepped in to register. They gave him 3 more years of living.
The treatment was cutting edge. The care was un matched.
We shared many memories over those three years that we never would have gotten.
Thank you VA , Mike was never bitter , but proud of his service to our country.

    • Michael Bowen August 21, 2025 at 14:39

He doesn’t tell me if I went to the contest or not. I wish what’s the new if I had made the entry.

  36. Carl Hunt August 20, 2025 at 19:52

I have a 04 Honda element and a 89 Toyota truck . Which I could use something new with a gps and back up camera. Never had a new vehicle before. My vehicles may be on there at leg .I am a Vietnam veteran.if I chosen will take care of the Toyota.

  37. Robert E Murphy August 20, 2025 at 19:15

Never won anything in my life, maybe this could be our time. Going through medical times with myself and my wife’s medical. I am a 15 yr disabled coast guard veteran.

  38. Bill Haas August 20, 2025 at 19:10

What a scam. You, the VA, send this promotion out under your name, then try to claim no endorsement and no responsibility. Finally, the entry form says eligible entrants are veterans, transitioning military and spouses. Yet all the entry form asks for is name, email, phone number and address, no request for anything to indicate we are an eligible ex military person. All this advertiser wants is our personal info so I can send us spam. And you, the VA are accepting money from them as you claim “no endorsement”.

  39. Daniel W.Morris August 20, 2025 at 19:05

My grandpa was a ww1 officer my dad was a firemen on the USS Franklin my brother was in Vietnam and I was in the army in the year 1967to 1969.
We all did our part of protecting our country.

  40. Patricia Johnson August 20, 2025 at 18:47

What a wonderful opportunity. It’s a great partnership with Toyota and The military. This is such a blessing for the hiring opportunities as well. The Vet news letter is awesome and keeps everyone informed about exciting resources available!

  41. Ronald w. Jones August 19, 2025 at 16:34

It is not just the car, it is hiring a Vet that is a wonderful thing to do.It helps the Vet a chance to be able to work again and meet more people that he might have helped through his serving in the service. He is still giving and learning. The VA is the best place to get that from, so many opertunities.
