After Sept. 30, 2025, Veterans will have two secure options to sign in to VA.gov and VA mobile apps―a Login.gov account or ID.me account. Most Veterans have already made the switch. If you’re still using a DS Logon username and password, we want to make sure you’re prepared when this option is discontinued by the end of September.

How to Transition

  1. Visit Creating an account for VA.gov for detailed instructions on setting up your Login.gov or ID.me account.
  2. Follow the step-by-step guide to create your account and verify your identity.
  3. Use your new account to access VA services online as you did before.

I am not good with computers. I get better service by going straight to the VA Hospital when needed.

  2. Dr. George W. Rogers Sr. September 22, 2025 at 16:08

I am having a horrible time logging on for VA, DEERS, TriCare, MilConn, or any of the sites I have gone to for years since I retired in 2009. AKO is another one.
I have a Login.gov account that does let me log in but I cannot find any info, help, or any of the above mentioned entities.

The Vet-HOME program is such a huge dishonest scam. The idea is to do a exam close to where you live after a toxic exposure. Then a 60 minute video meeting. What is missing? Tissue samples.

I told the examiner I demand a fatty adipose tissue biopsy for full chemical analysis. Just like you would in a autopsy. They blew it off again like every request the last 15 years.

Only, I made the same request of my VA doctor on Healthemed webpage. Then emails up and down the VA chain. Including Sec of VA Doug Collins.

Got a VA executive inquiry email back from his office being forwarded to VHA brass. That’s a fancy blow off by smug execs thumbing there noses at me.

Because, just like with the CDC – this current government of idiots believe in bad medical science. Ignoring fact or possible solutions.

I’m asking for the autopsy now, not when I’m dead. VA can’t handle that because it would prove the dirty dozen including Dioxins. POPs are stored in body fat. Forever organics from the war exposures like burn pits.

VA is committing fraud with this and knows I’m spot in here for more than a decade. NIH had already proved it. Not just with me, but millions of vets.

POPs effect millions, and VA Knows it but won’t test for it.

Impossible to get past the “security”. Can’t get on the VA web site.

Very confusing. I prefer email. Got no where on website. Email me, thank you

  6. DARYL M. HARDY September 17, 2025 at 21:54

    VERY INFORMATIVE TOPICS.

  7. Margaret Benson September 17, 2025 at 01:43

Why are you making this so confusing ? The older veterans (like me) are getting lost in the shuffle!

  8. Jina Noeth September 17, 2025 at 00:15

WOW! I thought I was the only one having problems! The system will not take an overseas phone number so, you’re done! No login! And good luck trying to phone! That takes two hours if you’re lucky!

  9. Martin Brauchle September 16, 2025 at 14:19

I have tried for several hours to get your new log in – Login.gov to the point of total and complete frustration. Your computer does not recognize my information, especially my social security number? What is the problem??

  10. Richard Wayne Gwaltney September 16, 2025 at 08:57

I find this the most convoluted fiasco I have ever seen. I have a login and password and it acknowledges that I am in when I go to Login.gov. and submit my code from Authenticator. Then it proceeds to tell me how I can set up my account as if I have not already done so.

Who designed this? Congress? the IRS?

  11. Andrew Tilton September 15, 2025 at 13:25

I believed I have completed the ID.me sign in and it seems to be working for now. Please let me know if you see any issues going forward with my sign in?
    Thank You

  12. Kevin M barry September 15, 2025 at 08:28

Very disappointing. There was no thought about the Veterans. If your not a computer wiz, you can’t figure out the changes. Nothing better for the veteran. Just a little courtesy would have been nice. The veteran wasn’t even thought about when this was put into effect. All it does is turns veterans away from the VA.

  13. Paul Iacono September 14, 2025 at 08:35

This NEW form/software of sign on is repugnant.
Did the VA just grabbed someone off the street that knows zero about computers and software?
This is the most ridicules way to sign on. Extremely NOT computer friendly.
Did the VA take into account that many of us Veterans are not computer savvy?
We were getting used to the way ti was before and now you made it harder in everyway.
I have to go to the VA and get help maneuvering to get to were I want the info I’m looking for.
What the HELL. Are you for helping the Vets or against them.
I placed a complaint to the people at the VA and they tell me that it lands on deft ears.
    Nice going VA.

  14. Edward Kangas September 13, 2025 at 23:31

I am an overseas veteran and I have been waiting for YEARS to be able to access my account! The VA solicits foreign telephone numbers, but does not process them!! That is why I cannot get a confirmation code!!! The VA has been aware of this shortcoming for over 7 YEARS, yet does NOTHING to correct it!!!! I cannot even ask a question any more!!!!!

    • David R September 15, 2025 at 13:00

      This right here.

      • Robert Sessions September 16, 2025 at 22:10

If you want to bring in a new system, make sure that it works. Anotrher item, a large number of veterans like myself, weren’t fed computor use through school. Our background would like something straight forward to log in. I fear that many like myself will keep getting those “some thing went wrong ” messages until the time limit is up.

    • David R September 15, 2025 at 13:04

Like logging into places like USAJOBS without being able to receive confirmation codes from foreign phones. Then dealing with account password reset issues. Makes no sense.

  15. Henry young September 13, 2025 at 17:35

    Couldn’t get it done

  16. Guy September 13, 2025 at 14:38

Your US Government at its finest! No matter where you look, it states again and again and again, you need only .gov or ID.me to sign into your VA account. So I sign in to either of these sites and then they tell me I need to sign into yet another site. Really?
And… I need the latest and greatest smartphone. Really?
And…my secure info to my local post office. Really?
Not going to happen in my lifetime and that’s reality!

  17. Charles Cook September 13, 2025 at 10:43

I was able to set up my account for sign in purposes and no problems. Trying to verify who I am with a picture is a pain. The instructions to do this are poor and should be explained in depth. No way will the system accept the picture of my I.D. from the driver license. This has been going on for months and getting me aggravated. I have been going to the V.A for 23 years and they don’t know who I am? I went to the Post Office and ask for help and was told to try again but that did not cut it. My V.A. doctor wants me to send him secure messages but that cannot happen until you have complete ability system. I am a 95-year-old Korean Veteran and have decent knowledge of computer systems but there is no need to complicate things for us, I love the V.A. for the care but this system is not for me for now. HELP

  18. jack interstein September 13, 2025 at 08:14

absolutely unable to log into new system after many years of on line usage. Pls at least keep the phone system which allows me to get my meds now…….

  19. Mike Garner September 12, 2025 at 23:06

I am a Viet-Nam era army Vet, 81 years old, living in Thailand because a VA hospital nearly killed me and then refused to talk to me or my wife. I have no US address, so the VA will not assign me a doctor, and have emptied my Medical file, , no phone check-ups, etc. BUT, they do send me garbage emails everyday about on-line VA gambling and other trash. They do a very good job of using us to keep themselves employed until they can draw their pension from a career of lying.

  20. Dan September 12, 2025 at 19:55

Most of us old timers don’t know what DS login is.. What is DS..????

  21. Richard Mogavero September 12, 2025 at 19:10

    Terrible, terrible, terrible.
I’ve been working with computers before the 8086 and the internet. Been through many problems with web sites and logons.
The VA has created a nightmare. Seems like something different happens everytime, I have to do something different to get in.
Just have to physically go to the VA to get prescriptions filled and get any info I need.
Praying their current team never discovers AI, all our records and info would be lost in an alternate universe somewhere in time.

  22. Donald McCarty Jr September 12, 2025 at 18:19

you get a system that works and then some suit decides we need to upgrade and then goes to hell. why? need to spend more on finding out why waivers are not introduced into our medical waivers when we got them! we need helpers to help our elderly warriors set up their phones, tablets, laptops , whatever they have to get them their meds, appts, and whatever they may need. we need to find out why a complete on duty emergency room at all hours is not available at the VA. Vets need help at all hours, young, middle age and elderly. someone needs to STAND UP and give our Congress and ass chewing big time. they say they support out Vets, but in reality, they just want to sound good. also , when we have a great Dr., they disappear, why? also, why are we being flagged? i had to reschedule an appointment 2 times do to weather and a previous appt i had forgot about and i now am a yellow flag holder, no explanation.

  23. Leo E Ridgway September 12, 2025 at 18:07

I hate the new system. There are too many hoops to jump through to get anywhere and, like the pharmacy option, there are too many steps to try to refill my prescription. Plus with the system it takes so long to get logged in. Messaging is another point that I hate the new system. Don’t understand why the old system had to go away because I saw no problem with it and this new system is so much harder for us older veterans to use.

  24. Nealy September 12, 2025 at 17:52

I just posted about this ARTICLE & other ones…every time I post now it just disappears…what’s the Purpose of posting if it never gets posted ?

  25. Nealy September 12, 2025 at 17:48

I have been using ID.me since 2017….& use it now but it seems I keep getting nasty gram emails …Veterans have different emails as long as it is updated in your profile & were getting our communications from VA ..securely, which I know VA is working hard to secure our information & benefits, never had a issue

  26. Lanty Hill Wylie September 12, 2025 at 11:58

THE VA IS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH HIPAA IN THAT I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MY MEDICAL RECORDS.
I HAVE BEEN USING VA SERVICES SINCE 1956 – NOW IT SEEMS THEY DO NOT KNOW WHO I AM.
MAYBE THE VA FOLKS CAN FIND A JOB WITH BUD LIGHT OR CRACKER BARREL-JUST ANY WHERE BUT THE VA.

  27. John Hilliard September 11, 2025 at 21:16

i HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS CHANGE FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAVE BEEN TO THE VSO, THE STATE PEOPLE AND ANYONE ELSE THAT I COULD FIND NOBODY CAN GET THIS DONE ENERYONE SAYS GO TO THIS WEB SITE OR THAT WEB SITE STUFF THESE SITES I GUESE I AM TO DUMB FOR THIS. I WILL CONTINUE TO GET THE CLINIC IN MT.HOME TO GET MY MEDS

  28. Anthony Montague September 11, 2025 at 14:46

The previous comments need to be sent to the department that President Donald Trump and Elon Musk established to “fix” and eliminate Government waste. The VA is full of Government waste. Staffed largely by people who never served, they are all about protecting their jobs, not helping Veterans. The new VA log-in system was changed, not to protect us or our identities, but to create more work for them to do. More need for their services. Fix the VA by complaining to the right people.

  29. Joseph Pires September 11, 2025 at 10:20

When will the VA learn to leave well enough alone. This is yet another example of NOT thinking about the older veterans who have limited knowledge or some none at all about computer programs, etc. We are not youngsters who have no fear of computers. Another example of change (most likely because of costs) is the recent changing of going from Depends to Prevail pads for those of us who wound up with prostate cancer because of what our government did to us. The new pads are garbage! They are smaller, not as thick and do not hold very much liquid (urine). Why change what works – whatever it is? You ask for feedback, we follow through and yet you do what you want…. Some things NEVER change.

    • Leo E Ridgway September 12, 2025 at 18:08

      I agree with you 100%

    • tom September 13, 2025 at 07:56

always changing for the worst if its good you’re going to change it. leave it along

  30. TiredofthisShit September 7, 2025 at 16:02

Yeah can we fucking not? This is the latest iteration of “easier” ways to log in and it still doesnt work.

How hard is it to just make a secured username/password creditial login like everyone else? Why do we need all these extra bullshit steps that don’t work nor increase security *because* they don’t fucking work? Get your shit together, VA, because Im not changing anything. It didn’t fix it before, it won’t do it now and it just causes more stress for me and my family trying and we’ve got enough on our plate right now as is. Fuck you – do better.

  31. Rusty Johnson September 6, 2025 at 10:19

The VA has all the info they need, blood type, height, weight, etc. This is just a slick way for the gumbit to get an updated photo of you. THEY say they don’t save this info…then why do they need it? Do I have to go thru the whole process every time I sign in…nope! They kept the info.

  32. DAVID ROMMEREIM September 5, 2025 at 12:20

I HAD A LOGIN.GOV ACCOUNT, WENT FINE FOR 3 WEEKS, THEN I SIGNED IN DAY TO REORDER VA MEDICATIONS
AND IT SAID I HAD USED IT TO MUCH AND I HAD TO RE-REGISTER, MY ONLY AVAILABLE OPTION IS TO SHOW
UP AT A POST OFFICE 140 MILES AWAY.I AM OVER 80 NOW,SO THEY CAN STUFF IT.

  33. David September 5, 2025 at 09:40

This new VA login sucks. I have been trying to use this crap ever sense it first came out. I have even had people from VA come by my home to fix it several time and the crap still does not work. I don’t have a cell phone. Don’t need one because don’t know how to use it.. I can not log into it.Who ever came up with this new mess needs to be jailed for the rest of their life…..

  34. Gabriel Escamilla, Ret., USAF September 4, 2025 at 13:32

The new log-in program send a secondary verification via TEXT…I don’t own a cell phone and my home phone doesn’t take text.
You are asking me for an email address…can’t you send me the text message via email as well? I learned this signing up for the new Social Security log-in system. I just read your comments…seems I’m not the only one. Waiting to read your response.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INTO LOGIN.GOV FOR A VERY LONG TIME. DURING INITIAL SIGN IN, I AM SENT A 6 DIGIT CODE TO MY CELL PHONE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FINISH, YOUR SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY CELL OR LAND LINE.
THE CONTRACTOR IS USELESS & JUST READS FROM A SCRIPT. THE WEBSITE THEY SEND YOU TO IS THE LONGEST I HAVE EVER SEEN & WHEN YOU GET THERE ????. I AM 79 & A FORMER INFANTRY COMBAT VETERAN & KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TAKING PICTURES & E-MAILINGTHEM.
YOU SAID MOST VETERANS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULL, PLEASE INFORM ME HOW MANY HAVEN’T. GOOD LUCK FINDING A POST OFFICE WHICH KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. I RECENTLY SUFFERED MY 3RD TIA, MINI STROKE & FEEL COMPLETELY ABANDONED BY YHE DEPT. OF VETERANS AFFAIRS. DO YOU DO ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT WITH THE FEEDBACK YOU GET? IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA IF YOU STARTED CNTACTING VETS WHO HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CHANGE OVER.

I am so mad at VA for setting this up without thinking. 79 years infantry combat using a flp phone can’t up load pictures and can’t drive, live alone, pain all the time from being shot in Vietnam.

I attempted to generate an account with Login.Gov; upon entering my phone number, a response came back saying phone number invalid. Now have to wait 5-10 days for snail mail to arrive for verification

  41. Kirt Love August 31, 2025 at 09:17

Ive finally got proof that OSAGWI ( Office of the Special Assistant for Gulf war Illness ) falsified its finding in the Gulf War.

I came to them in 1999 to describe a demolition right after the war. March, April time frame. Huge explosion with a mushroom cloud much larger than anything in the war. OSAGWI never responded back to me on this.

3 years later former OSAGWI employee leaked me a PAT file stating they knew of yet another demolition like this 35 kilometers away south of Khamisiyah. But, dismissed me. Closed the file.

I thought I was looking west. Got that part wrong. Al Rumaylah ammo pit was 2 kilometers north of me. OSAGWI never volunteered this advice. Figured if I never knew other details, then why put that idea in my head. Only it was in the middle and the 1st and 3rd AD.

How did I figure this out, OSAGWI had given me my CRUR unit locator data in 1999. I had my daily position from beginning of the war till the day I left. Took that grid coordinate and compared it to every known location in the OSAGWI case narratives. 6 spots were all by me south west of Basra, and after careful analysis on Google map I zeroed in on the Al Rumaylah republican guard demo point. Which OSAGWI declared unlikely. Not from what I saw.

As we speak, the special investigation files are about to be released at NARA. https://catalog.archives.gov/id/311506460 They are called the “Special Study Files Pertaining to Gulf War Illnesses, January 1, 1996–November 9, 2000” and in these are the phone calls, emails, interviews, and descriptions given OSAGWI by veterans. Veterans were bullied and misdirected by OSAGWI in order to close investigations like mine. Falsify data. This can show that fact. I even have a inventory spreadsheet from OSAGWI of this database with call record logs and such.

I have called the DOD Incidents Hot Line: 800-497-6261 to report this. My new case number is: DOD Service Member Exposure Hotline Case 4403722. I have also taken this up the ladder with Pentagon. Ironically, Im being opposed on all sides to getting answers.

Im 100% certain OSAGWI falsified data. Im 100% certain that PSOB that investigated OSAGWI falsified data. As one Bill Taylor spoke out against Sen Warren Rudman. Hillary Clinton pointed out in White House records that OSAGWI defied the Clintons at every turn. CIA and others worked to derail the 1995 declassification efforts. George Bush leaned on DOD and CIA to defy the Clintons and help cover up mistakes made during the war.

Its time to reopen the records and help the Gulf war veterans that have suffered these last 34 years.

No where does this article tell me how to contact a live person to discuss my brother’s facts and circumstances. I cannot sign my brother up do to multiple issues. I need to be able to access the system as a Power of Attorney. Please address this issue as soon as you can figure out how to resolve this issue.

  43. Jack August 29, 2025 at 13:08

I have had nothing but stressful problems with this new sign in crap. I do not have a smart phone, nor do I want one. It refuses to return a call to my home phone. There has never been an easy way to complain about this problem. I spent several weeks with an ID team trying to get things straightened out but nothing they said made sense to me. I finally gave up, as I was getting too stressed about the whole mess. Not all of us older vets are tech savvy, in any way shape or form. The language has always been foreign and we do not understand what they are talking about. They should have sent a rep. out to each and every older vets home to set it up and return when there is a problem. But that would make too much sense. I have to use my wife’s cell phone to make contact. She is going on vacation soon for an extended time and I will be without contact to my info. until she returns. Great system, you bozo’s.
