There are no jobs for Veterans over the age of 50 in South Carolina. I have two degrees and have a difficult time finding a job. I got turned down fir a job to be a police officer at the VA Hospital when I spent years as a Military Police and with a degree in Criminal Justice. The hype that they instill in us thst we would have plenty of opportunities once we retire is bogus. I’m very disappointed in the way the VA lie about job opportunities for vets.USA Jobs are a joke for Veterans. Your age shouldn’t play a part in getting hired, I tell people all of the time to not believe the hype about finding good paying jobs once you retire.

Registered Nurse outpatient specialty clinics, or primary care clinics. Or when I graduate from my Master Degree in Nursing with concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner to work as an Advanced Health Care Provider.

I’m 58 years old now and find that my military time in the Naval Service back in the 80’s & 90’s, or my time in the National Guard actually do nothing for me in helping to secure a decent paying job. I see them bringing in kids in there early 20’s, with very little experience and zero military exposure. getting these jobs that I have applied to. Wish this administration would make it law to hire veterans first before hiring a non veteran. Maybe incentivize employers who do hire QUALIFIED veterans. I feel us older veteran’s in there 50’s, and 60’s are deemed too old by lots of employers.

Military service use to be a benefit. That said have personally seen my boss while reviewing resumes calculate 4 yrs college, 4yrs military and xxx yrs experience and say, “I am not hiring this guy he is in his 50’s”. I tell vets getting up in years to eliminate service time and experience, so employers do not eliminate them do to age. We need to get the word out and hoping you can help or forward this to the appropriate dept that can help vets

You’re 100% correct! I’m 58 and have been trying to land a decent job and find it difficult as vet. They are hiring kids out of high school with zero military and very little experience.
