We are saddened by the tragedy at the Yountville State Veterans Home. Although this was not a VA facility, our sympathies are with the families, friends and colleagues who are grieving for those who lost their lives.

We know the unfailing commitment that these brave employees had to working with Veterans during some of their most challenging times; and we are committed to continuing to try to make sure these events do not happen again.

Nothing is more important than caring for our Veterans and employees during this time, and the VA is providing mobile resources at the location to assist those dealing with this incident and to employees impacted across the country.

The VA is actively reviewing procedures to take all possible steps to prevent this outcome in the future, especially in outpatient settings.

There is a totally fresh breeze blowing through the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. It is bringing with it, a whole new, most welcome degree of transparency to the entire operation. There is also, a palpable uptick in attitude that is Vet-friendly.
Plus, Plus: It is so much easier to park the car. Thanks to Secretary of Veterans Affairs,, Dr. David J. Shulkin.

    To Whom It May Concern:

According to my medical records which I finely received thanks to my Senator
In the summer of 1969 I took my draft physical was classified 1-A, NO back problems, NO Scoliosis!
If I has Scoliosis back then would not I of been classified 4-F? NOT 1-A!!!!!
I was inducted in to the US Navy in 21 January 1970! And for 13 week no less than 12 doctors saw me! NOT one of them said any thing about me having Scoliosis! I was assigned to HT-8 in July 0f 1970 to the Maintenance Administration Office.
In 1971 I was temperedly assigned to HT-8 Material Control Office were moving a 150 to 200 lb Storage locker from the first floor storage to the second the locker slip out of the hands of the person helping move it and smash me into the stairway wall. I went to sickbay and the just put medicine on the cut on my hand! No x-ray of my back!!!!!!!!
In November 1971 my brother-in-law who just came back from Vietnam came down with TB! I was with him at my step dad’s funeral. I was informer to contact sickbay and tell them by the Oakland County MI health Dept. I was told by the X-ray tech, that I had Scoliosis! Now at that time SHOULD OF I NOT been giving a medical discharged?
NO ONE IN MY FAMILY HAS SCOLIOSIS! And according to information MY type of Scoliosis is coursed by an accident!!!!!!!!
Hen I have seen your P & C doctors I have been told by then that there is No information about me going to sickbay in Nov of 1971 about the accident, or any information on the Upper GI that they gave to me due to me having (what I found out a year ago) was IBS and started AFTER I was smashed into the stairway wall!
When I was separated from HT 18 I just picked up my ex-wife’s and kids medical records>>> I DID NOT have a discharged physical or sign any paper work!!!!!!!!

We will be forever grateful for the care that has been given to my husband through the VA. We appreciate the Choice Program since we live 100 miles from the LaJolla V A; my husband is a WW 11 vet and is 91 years old. He has always been treated with respect and kindness.
