In 2010, two nurses from the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center’s Community Outpatient Clinic in Texarkana, Ark., Delta Morris and Stephanie Greer, heard a Veteran say he did not have enough food for him and his wife.

VA employees teamed up with Veterans service organizations to hold an outreach event for Native American Veterans on the White Mountain Apache Reservation.

The information and stories shared by our Veterans across Indian country helps VA effectively serve and reach our warriors once they return home to civilian life.

San Francisco State University, Black Hills State University and University of Central Florida will conduct cemetery research and produce educational material for K-12 schools and the general public in an effort to promote community engagement with Veterans’ history.

Recently extended through June 30, 2019, the agreement will continue to improve the Veteran experience with community care by providing timely access to care closer to home and strengthening VA’s high-performing network within a culturally sensitive community.

This change will allow eligible tribal organizations to become accredited to provide assistance on VA benefit claims.
