The Civil War Trust is a private, nonprofit enterprise begun in 1991 to work for the preservation of the nation’s most important Civil War sites.
The Trust recently featured the Memphis National Cemetery in its newsletter, “Civil War Landscape,” detailing the layout of the cemetery and its monuments to Civil War dead, of which 13,965 from 537 Civil War regiments are buried at the cemetery.
