WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a grant for nearly $3.3 million to Wisconsin to construct a new 42-bed domiciliary at the state veterans’ home in Union Grove.

“This grant reflects the federal-state partnership that is honoring our commitment to care for the men and women who have served in uniform,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi.  “These partnerships allow more veterans to receive the respect and care that they have earned.”

The grant will pay up to 65 percent of the cost to build and equip the residential addition.  The overall cost of the project is more than $5 million.

In May 2001, VA awarded a grant to the Union Grove veterans home to expand an existing 43-bed facility into an 86-bed domiciliary.

The Wisconsin State Veterans’ Home in King operates a 665-bed nursing care unit and 84-bed domiciliary offering medical, nursing, rehabilitative, social and other supportive services to eligible Wisconsin veterans.

Information about the Wisconsin veterans home can be found by calling (715) 258-5586.
