Whether you stormed the beaches of Normandy, flew helicopter missions over Vietnam, recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan, or just finished up your enlistment,VA wants to serve you.
From the original GI Bill, which helped cement the economic and social boom of the “Greatest Generation” after WWII, to the more than 8 million Veterans currently cared for at more than 1,800 VA facilities nationwide, VA is answering President Lincoln’s call to “care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan.”
In its newest outreach effort, VA highlights the generations of families who served our military and are receiving care and benefits available to them.
Millions of Veterans have already taken advantage of what VA has to offer, but many have not. Visit va.gov/explore to learn more about VA benefits.

I won my appeal for TDIU and PTSD..I sumitted a NOD about the original effective date. I`d put in a rebuttul and claim for benefits in 1983 while still active duty.. My appeal only went back to 2003, and this is just wrong..AS much he## the navy put me through, they should be a lot quicker getting me my back pay.. The NOD has been in for almost two years; it shouldn`t take that long ` !! I call and visit the RO and get different explanations !!
Both the VA administration and the last two VA Secretary didn’t care about my situation. Persian Gulf veteran, 100% disabled, fighting the VA since 1995 to get my disability compensation ratings correct. Both VA secretary’s have apologized for VA incompetence but they can’t do anything! Just wash their hands in the manner. Secretary Nicholson in the Appeals Board and Secretary Shinski in the Court of Appeals that I had with them. That my dental implants was extracted and not replaced according to law. I am frustrated with the VA and our senators and congressman/congresswomen on Capital Hill.
I am writing this on behalf of my wife. I served 20 years in the Army and she served six years. She is disabled and is on oxygen twenty four hours a day. Her total VA disability compensation is $103.00 a month. I have written to senators and representatives in the past for help and received none. The VA hospital in Jackson, MS was suppose to reevaluate her years ago but never finished and at one point sent her a letter telling don’t go there anymore and find a new hospital they were too busy. She can’t go to far anymore, she’s 63 and I’m 68 and now they have taken her Tricare Prime away making a difficult situation even worse. I would appreciate any help because this difficult situation is being made worse by the present government and I see no possibility of improvement.
Thanks for all the resources you provide. My father is a veteran of Korea and is now in his 80’s. The resources you provide are very helpful indeed.
My service during what you call the Post Korea era was a truly memorable period of my life. After I was discharged from the military, I drew a few benefits from the G.I. Bill; but the support that I received on my job made it unnecessary for me to draw on the resources of the VA which I believe should be used primarily for the benefit of those who are impaired as a result of their military service. Those who have given the most should not be short-changed in order to provide benefits for those of us who came away unscathed.
