VBA has coordinated with Stars and Stripes to release a special edition insert, the Veterans Benefits Guide. The print and digital publication, which highlights VA benefits and services available for Veterans, service members, and their families, hit newsstands on December 9.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Stars and Stripes again on this project,” said Joshua Jacobs, senior advisor for Policy, Performing the Delegable Duties of the Under Secretary for Benefits. “The Veterans Benefits Guide has such great information on our ever-growing list of programs offered to service members and Veterans. I think a lot of people will find it extremely helpful.”

You can find the digital version of the Veterans Benefits Guide here.

What you can expect

Written and reviewed by VBA subject matter experts across the administration, the Veterans Benefits Guide contains information about financial assistance, career planning and guidance, home loan assistance, and answers some of the most commonly asked questions on a variety of benefits and services, including:

  • Compensation
  • Life insurance
  • Pension and fiduciary services
  • Education and training programs
  • Economic development and employment
  • Home loan guaranty programs and housing assistance
  • Mental health resources

It also features a welcome message from Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Benefits Mike Frueh, explaining how service members, Veterans, caregivers, survivors and their families can get started with taking advantage of what VBA has to offer.

In addition, the guide include links to helpful resources, such as program eligibility information, yearly benefit program reports, application directions, VBA contact information and much more.

This is crap! You can’t read the paper on a mobile phone (many veterans may not have a PC/laptop) as it is too small, or too large. What ever happened to the ability to download a VA benefits guide directly from the VA (and one without commercial advertisement)?

It’s been said that weight control is largely a mental health condition. So why don’t psychiatrists treat the problem of obesity in veterans with depression?
