“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he today that sheds his blood with me, Shall be my brother; be ne’er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition.” – William Shakespeare (King Henry V)

Explaining the sights and sounds of war can be difficult. Finding the words to express the feelings brought on from those life-changing experiences can be equally daunting. It is this perceived obstacle in communication between a Veteran and their loved ones, or mental health professional, which can add stress to the healing and coping process.

But what if the greatest wordsmith of the English language did all the heavy lifting for you? What if you could show how you felt and develop new friendships by acting out a Shakespearean play? That’s what Veterans are counting on when they participate in the Feast of Crispian sessions at the Milwaukee VA.

Watch the video (07:45) produced by Rich Doese for VA News about a recent session and asks yourself if Shakespeare can help you or a loved one.
