For many Veterans, military service was a life-changing time that provided the kinds of experiences that few in the civilian world can possibly understand. One of the most enduring aspects of serving is the strength of relationships formed with those who shared those same experiences, often under dangerous and challenging conditions. Re-establishing those bonds by reconnecting Veterans with their former comrades-in-arms served as the main driving force behind the 2003 creation of the Veterans website Togetherweserved.com.
Togetherweserved.com (TWS) was launched specifically to help Veterans find those they served with. Now with more than 2.2 million members in five separate service branch websites, TWS has possibly reconnected more Veterans than any other website or organization. The secret behind this high rate of success is attributed to the depth of TWS’s hand-built databases that contain almost every U.S. military training and operating unit that has ever existed.
Click here to find people you served with.
To find a person he or she served with, all a Veteran must do is enter the basic details of their military service on Togetherweserved.com, including the basic training school they were in and the units, bases, ships or squadrons they were assigned to, along with associated time frames. TWS then automatically looks up all other TWS members who served in the same assignments at the same time. That’s then presented as a list of names that links to their service profile and is ready to connect.
Not only is TWS able to provide every Veteran an excellent chance of reconnecting with old service friends, but it can also be useful in locating personnel who may have been present at an event during their service that impacted their health. Those personnel may be able to provide a witness statement to support a VA benefits claim.
To find all Veterans on Togetherweserved.com who may have served with you, simply click here. Reconnecting with old service members and friends is just a click away!

It was through Together We Served that I was able to link up with CPT Richard Gerry, the Forward Air Controller who saved my life in Việt Nam. Neither one of us knew the other’s name, but comparing his Pilot’s logs from that day and my Distinguished Service Cross citation proved that it was he who covered me when I was alone, severely wounded, and no one knew for sure where I was, except those shooting at me. CPT Gerry always wondered who the guy was and if I survived. Without TWS, he and I would have just been like two ships passing the night on 20 June 1969. We have now become good friends.
Robert – that is one heck of a story and really pleased that TWS was of assistance in locating your FAC and you have now reconnected!

The government, including the VA, consists of human beings. Human beings are imperfect. Are you perfect or are you a human being? Let’s give them a little credit for the effort. With a little time and encouragement they’ll get it right.
Is there any Cost?
If so how much?
How long does the service last?
Are price packages available ?

Hi Michael – Thanks for the question. TWS is completely free to join and receive all the benefits of Free Membership which include a place to record your entire military history including memories and photographs, active discussion board, Free Military Service Plaque and Shadow Box, receive Reflections and Dispatches Newsletters and updates of new Members who served in your Unit. Also ALL Free Members can look up and contact 5 Friends completely free of charge each month. Full Membership which costs Free Members $9.95 for 1 year is a voluntary option, which is similar to most Military Associations and LinkedIn’s Premium Membership. Typical of the VA, this site doesn’t work.
It conveniently fails to mention that it costs $9.95 a month to look up friends! What a crock
Yes, you’re right. The free part is to get their free periodic TWS newsletter, which to their credit, IS interesting, but to get their Look-Up Service, you must be a PAYING member. This “posting” should NOT be on here AT ALL! It is an Advertisement for their Business. Shame on the “Editors” of this VA Newsletter who let it slip by. They are NOT supposed to be promoting any “For Profit Company” with a free posting on this site. And Shame on the TWS people for taking advantage of it! Scumbags! The editors of this newsletter should take any mention of TWS off of this newsletter immediately. Obviously they haven’t been monitoring the feedback on here at all, and there doesn’t seem to be any easy way to contact them…believe me, I’ve tried! Typical government screwup which would not be tolerated in a private business.
