Nurses are at the center of VA care. Anywhere you find us caring for Veterans, you’ll see a nurse stepping in to provide the kind of care those who served our country deserve.
When we see how our nurses tirelessly provide the highest quality care to Veterans, we are humbled by their commitment and perseverance, and we encourage anyone with a passion for health care to consider a nursing career at VA.
The work may be demanding, but the rewards are many when it comes to employment benefits. That starts with up to 26 days of paid leave, 13 sick days annually, and 11 paid federal holidays each year, as well as 12 weeks of parental leave. With these benefits, you have the freedom to enjoy life outside of work, and bring balance to your day-to-day schedule.
VA also offers federal insurance programs and a variety of health care plans that all cover preexisting conditions, with 75% of health premiums paid by us. You’ll also have access to the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), allowing you to tax-defer a portion of your income each year, similar to a 401(k), with an automatic 1% government contribution.
At VA, you’ll ultimately be able to put patients first, free from constraints that often exist in other health care settings.
