AbilityLinks.org is a free online job board dedicated to connecting Veterans with inclusive employers who value their unique skills and experience. Founded with a mission to promote employment for Veterans and people with disabilities, AbilityLinks offers a supportive platform where Veterans can search for meaningful work, access resources and build lasting careers.
Supportive workplaces for Veterans
To spotlight the experiences of Veterans in the workforce, we conducted interviews with Veteran employees and employee resource group (ERG) leaders from our partner employers. These interviews focused on their transition to civilian careers and offered valuable insights on how Veterans can navigate a successful job search. Veteran ERGs play a crucial role by fostering a supportive community, enhancing career development and promoting understanding of the unique skills that Veterans bring to the workforce. These leaders offer valuable advice for other Veterans entering civilian roles.
“Leaving the military isn’t just the end of one chapter—it’s the beginning of an exciting new one. This transition will have its challenges, but just like before, you have everything within you to adapt, lead and thrive. You’re not starting over; you’re building on everything you’ve already achieved. Embrace the good and the bad, the wins and the setbacks—they are all part of the process. Trust in yourself and remember that your best days are not behind you. You’ve already proven you can overcome anything. Now, it’s time to take that strength and create something new. Believe in the path ahead, and most importantly, believe in yourself. You are capable of amazing things—military or not.”
