The VHA Healthcare Recruitment and Marketing Office (HRMO) approach to bringing the “Best and Brightest” health care professionals to VA is a unique balance of both social media and traditional marketing. From recruitment Twitter chats and posts on Facebook, to an interactive web site and direct contact by our 21 National Recruitment Program consultants, VHA integrates best practices in recruitment and marketing to drive qualified candidates to VA. One approach, traditional in concept but enhanced with social media tools, is the VA public service announcement (PSA), entitled “My Reason to Serve.”
Since launching on Veterans Day 2014, the PSA has aired on television stations across the country. In order to increase the reach of the PSA, the HRMO team visited national television networks in January 2015 to urge them to air this message, and it has since been picked up by both Fox News and Fox Business. VA expects that Fox will continue to run the PSA throughout the remainder of the campaign, as they have previously supported other PSA campaigns in this manner.
The goal of the PSA campaign is to provide support in promoting greater awareness of careers within VA and to help aid in the recruitment of hard-to-reach health care occupations, including physicians, nurses and pharmacists. The campaign directs viewers or listeners to visit VAcareers.va.gov for more information.
If you feel strongly about bringing the best qualified and brightest health care professional to VA, then help us to share “My Reason to Serve” and other VA recruitment videos within your circles of influence.
