Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Ivan Woodford.
Ivan joined the Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor. He was 31-years-old and was not subject to the draft, but he volunteered anyway.
He served in the various campaigns across the Pacific as a Navy Seabee and was directly involved with the liberation and subsequent rebuilding of the Philippine Islands.
Ivan rates both the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
He is now retired and lives in Carson City, Nevada and is currently Nevada’s oldest living Veteran. He turns 106-years-old in July.
Thank you for your service, Ivan!
