My name is Dr. Bryce Carpenter. I work on the Veterans Legacy Program. Every day here at the National Cemetery Administration (NCA), I learn something new about what veterans have done for our republic. I learn their sacrifice, their story, their legacy. It is inspiring. It makes me proud to be American. Through the Veterans Legacy Program, these stories of sacrifice are what we share. But today I want to share with you this new initiative in the Veterans Legacy Program that we rolled out yesterday, about creating partnerships.
The Veterans Legacy Program: Local Legacy, National Heritage.
We’re going around the country building partnerships: schools, universities, and their local national cemetery. Together, students, teachers, and professors will research and commemorate the local legacy in each national cemetery Most of all, we want to see young people connecting with the veterans’ legacy in their community. Because our great nation’s veterans’ legacy is comprised of local histories from local communities, we’re celebrating that in Local Legacy.
This is what I’m doing now. Consequently, as new partners come on board, I’ll introduce them here.
If you have a question about the legacy in your local national cemetery, please reach out. We want to tell veterans’ stories better. You can help us do that.
You’ll meet some of the other people working on Legacy soon. We’re all honored to do this work. Thanks for reading.
All the best,
Bryce
