Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Jeffrey A. Butler. Jeffrey served during the Gulf War.

Jeffrey enlisted in the Air Force in 1986, first serving as a crew chief, then transferred to be an F-15 mechanic. He continued to advance with an inter-service transfer and, in 1989, Jeffrey earned a promotion to warrant officer and his wings as an Army Blackhawk pilot.

Two years later, Jeffrey deployed in support of combat operations in the Gulf War, serving with Task Force Phoenix. He flew missions in support of command and control, air mobile efforts, and logistics operations. After returning from combat, and later service at Katterbach Army Air Field in Germany, he served as an instructor pilot at Fort Drum in New York.

Jeffrey left the service in 1996. He received the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and an Air Medal with combat “V” device.

After the Army, Jeffrey earned a Masters in Divinity. After serving 12 years as a pastor, he earned his second masters degree in social work in 2012. Jeffrey’s first appointment was director of the Loyola Recovery Center inside the Albany VA Medical Center.

In 2014, he joined the Albany Vet Center as a readjustment counselor where he continues to aid fellow combat Veterans. He and his wife live in New York and have two children, one of whom serves his country in the Air National Guard.

Thank you for your service, Jeffrey!
