Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Cory Coumbes.
Cory joined the Marine Corps in 2009 as an 0311 Infantryman.
He served four deployments during his career. He deployed twice to Cuba, once to Bahrain with an embassy reinforcement mission in Yemen, and once to Afghanistan in the Helmand Province.
Among his awards is the Joint Meritorious Unit Award for joint security operations in Guantanamo Bay.
Cory died in a car accident on April 12, 2014 while he was on active duty.
We honor his service.
