Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Josephine Taylor. Josephine served during the Persian Gulf War.
Josephine joined the Army through ROTC and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. During an interview with the Veteran’s History Project, she said she liked the confidence basic training instilled in her and the way it challenged her in new ways. She served in Ohio, and was later sent to Saudi Arabia with the 762nd Transportation Company. While it was a surprise being deployed overseas, she rose to the occasion as transportation company commander. When she returned home she was emotionally drained, but grateful for the strong character that the military had helped her develop.
Josephine returned to civilian life and became a social worker. She appreciates everything the Army taught her and encourages others if they are interested in the military because it instills a sense of confidence among other things. Josephine’s unit became very close and many still keep in touch today.
Thank you for your service, Josephine!
