Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Gus Cargile, Jr.
Gus joined the Marine Corps in 1942. He was commissioned in August 1943.
During his time in the military, he served at several duty stations including Cherry Point, NC; Jacksonville, FL; and many places throughout Texas.
He was released from active duty in October 1946, and went on to join 15th Infantry Reserve Unit. He discharged in 1952.
After the military, worked many jobs, including the “Swap-a-Rama” flee market he opened in 1985 and continues to run today.
Through the years, Gus has traveled the world to more than 70 countries and six continents. He still enjoys traveling and is planning a trip to Thailand this year.
Today, Gus turns 95.
