Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Amanda R. Fichera Kean.
Amada was a senior in high school in Swan, Ohio, when she decided to join the Army. She was only 17 when she joined and had to get her parent’s permission. She left for basic training the summer after she graduated in 1999.
After basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, she was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. She served as a motor transport operator in Kuwait and Iraq where she transported food, supplies, and weapons.
While on active duty she married Norman Kean, Jr., who was also in the Army. Amanda left service in 2003. She then used her G. I. bill benefits to go to college.
Thank you for your service, Amanda!
