Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Lanny G. Aspermy. Lanny served from 1966 to 1990. He retired as a sergeant major.
Lanny enlisted in the Army in 1966. He was later assigned to combat service from 1969 until 1970 in the Vietnam War. During this time, Lanny served at Landing Zones Sharon and Nancy as well as Quang Tri Combat Base.
After returning from his tour of duty in Vietnam, Lanny was assigned to various posts across the United States. These posts include: Texas, Utah, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Hawaii. Lanny also served outside the United States in South Korea and Germany.
During Lanny’s service, he received various medals and honors. His achievements include the Drill Seargant Badge, 5ID Combat Patch, Combat Infantryman Badge, Injin Scout Badge, German Qual Badge, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service, Army Commendation, Army Achievement, Good Conduct, National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service, Korean Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Campaign, Lone Star Distinguished Service and Outstanding Service award.
