Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is U.S. Air Force Veteran Gary Peterson. Gary served from 1990 to 2013 during the Gulf War and Iraq War.
Gary was born in Roswell, New Mexico and enlisted in the Air Force in November 1990 after graduating high school. He served on several bases across the world as a logistics readiness officer and served three tours in Iraq. His duties included leading teams responsible for transportation, fuel, planning and supply chain management.
After his career in the military, Gary began to run his own small business and credits the Air Force with teaching him many of the necessary skills to be successful in this endeavor and to the community. Gary received help from the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and now owns One Community Auto where he refurbishes and sells donated vehicles in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. Proceeds are donated to charity and vehicles are saved from scrap heaps. The business was named a 2017 Grand Champion in the American Small Business Championship.
Thank you for your service, Gary!
