Alternative healing and mental health awareness is becoming more important and more popular. One thing Veterans are trying out is meditation. Meditation can be defined as a practice where an individual focuses their mind on a particular object, thought or activity to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. Like many Veterans, I have tried mediation and enjoy it, but I struggle with regular practice.

When I first exited the military, I got involved with a brand called Veteran Empire which was led by my friend Alfred “Alphi” Quitevis. Alphi was hustling with school, a business, and a busy social life. He noticed it started catching up with him and he put it all aside to explore the world and himself. During this exploration, he studied and practiced meditation. Now, he’s an expert on the subject with plenty of insight to offer.

I watched Alphi go through this transition and followed him along his journey. I knew he’d be the right guy to discuss meditation and how it can apply to Veterans. He’s going to talk to us about his time in the Corps, becoming too busy, becoming less busy, and finding meditation.

I came by because somebody said it was go Green Day or Earth Day. Who has the green? The whole swap one med for another med substitution is a no go for me. My mind is fine and I refuse this type medical treatment. Just wanted to put that out there publicaly. I would meditate but I feel I’m living a nightmare most of the time anyway, so maybe some activity or work; a food for thought while I earn a dime for my time, we all win. I know, yeah yeah yeah…. right; prove me wrong! Order my records and see if we can get it right one time!

    Thank You All ,

A balance or the Marine way, sounds like the all to well known “my way or the highway”, for certain a frog would say the same about trenches of the abyss, that is six in one hand and a half dozen in the other, but what do I know; it would be safe to say that you both get your butts beat every time you move, that is to say, with the balance is a crutch mindset. No matter where you or your head is at, you motivate me with a dump truck full of “NO F***S GIVEN”, and I Salute you. That seems more your center, death before dismount, most of all remember the touching the hearts and minds agenda, two to the chest and one to the head, we do not quit and we will never surrender……. I got your six.

Thank you for your service and honor,

Great stuff gentlemen! Just discovered the Podcast. Stoked to see VA evolving towards Whole Health practices vs. Find it Fix model. Mindful Awareness has been a key player in my journey and still find myself having to re-implement the basics. Also, this definitely motivates me to delve deeper in the practice of Flow mastery. Finally, thanks Tim for bringing up balance. Just like for the body, without moderate healthy stress mental and spiritual growth can be stunted or plateau. In my opinion balance is Paramount.
