The “I Am Not Invisible (IANI)” photography project aims to increase awareness about women Veterans. They make up ten percent of the Veteran population and total roughly two million women Veterans. The IANI project opens viewer’s eyes to the myriad contributions, needs, and experiences of women who have served in the military. The photo collection tries to instill their joy, professionalism, and service in each photo leaving the women feeling acknowledged for their service to America.

As a vet and a disabled vet I am constantly seeing this program and that program boasting about how they help. I see and read about all these efforts to help us vet yet when I attempt to get help every single door is slammed in my face. I am invisible..I dont matter

My Mom was a WWII Vet. When she was planning her retirement from teaching, the district superintendent asked all the men if they had military time to buy back. He skipped over my Mom. As he was continuing, she quietly raised her hand. The guy noticed, and Mom said, “You didn’t ask me about military time.” He blustered on. Mom continued, “I am a WWII Veteran with 4 years service time. And I mustered out as a LTII.” Turns out she not only had more time than any of the other Vets, she outranked all of them! And my Dad, a corporal, loved to tell folks about her service!
