Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Chris Lambert. Chris served in the Army for eight years then spent five years as a police officer.
Chris was born in November 1984 in Dayton, Ohio. Growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball. Chris attended the University of Dayton, where he met his future wife Halley.
Following college graduation, Chris decided to join the Army. He spent five years on active duty followed by three years in the Army Reserves. During his time of service, Chris served overseas twice in both Iraq and Haiti.
In 2013, Chris graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy and became a state trooper. He was assigned to the District 15 Criminal Patrol Team in Downers Grove.
On January 12, 2019, Chris stopped to assist with a motor vehicle crash on the interstate while coming home from work. He was killed when struck by another motorist.
Chris, a native of Highland Park, was the father of a one-year-old daughter named Delaney. He is being remembered as an avid sports fan and a police officer who was always willing to go out of his way to help others.
We honor his service.
