Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Margaret Joann Boswell Folluo. Margaret served from 1953 to 1957.
Margaret comes from a long line of Navy Veterans with her father serving in the Navy in WWI and her brother serving in the 1950s. After graduation, Margaret began work as a comptometer operator. After 18 months, she joined the Navy Reserves where she was part of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) program.
Shortly after, Margaret was recalled to active duty and assigned to Naval Air Station St. Louis. In 1954, she went to Naval Training Unit in Olathe, Kansas and graduated as an air-controlman 3rd class. At Naval Air Station St. Louis, she kept track of all Navy pilots that came in or left the airport. She completed a total of four years of active-duty service and then transferred into the reserves. From there, she used the GI Bill to obtain an associates degree at St. Louis University.
Thank you for your service, Margaret!
