Today’s Veteran of the Day is dedicated to all U.S. Army service members and Veterans on this day, the 244th birthday of the U.S. Army.
Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is every service member and Veteran of the United States Army.
On this day in 1775, the Second Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of riflemen to defend the colonies from the British forces. And for the next 244 years, you have served your country overseas and at home with honor and distinction.
From the Revolution to the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the World Wars; to Korea, to Vietnam, to the Cold War through the fall of the Berlin Wall and the liberation of Kuwait; to those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for those still serving: thank you.
Thank you for answering the call to serve, for fighting for our freedom, for defending our nation and our way of life. It is you—our soldiers and Veterans—who have inspired our nation with your courage and accomplishments.
We honor your service.
