Milwaukee VA hosted its second annual Beats & Eats.

Dr. Josy simon CXL procedure is first in VA.

Dr. Jody Simon, corneal specialist in Ophthalmology at the Veterans medical center in New Orleans, made history: she performed the first corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) procedure ever completed at a VA medical center.
Not just new at VA, CXL is a new procedure in the United States. The Veteran who worked with Dr. Simon was transferred to the New Orleans VA, from the Manhattan VA for the procedure. Since then, Veterans from the El Paso VA and the Houston VA have been referred to New Orleans to see if they might be candidates for the procedure. Photos by Anne Marino.


102-year-old #WWII #Veteran Melva Dolan Simon from Mt. Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania, came to talk with the Pittsburgh #VA Healthcare System about her military service with the @usnavy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES).
