Army Veteran Jay Barry Levinson is today's Veteran of the Day.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Jay Barry Levinson, who served as a light infantry soldier in Vietnam and was killed in action.

Originally from New York City, the Army drafted Jay Barry Levinson in November 1968. Levinson served with the 25th Infantry Divison based in Củ Chi Base Camp, northwest of Saigon in South Vietnam. The base was near the Iron Triangle, the stronghold of Việt Minh activity in Binh Duong province. Levinson was with the 14th Infantry Regiment of D Company as an infantryman, where he specialized in light weapons infantry.

In January 1969, Levinson died from hostile small arms fire in Binh Duong province in South Vietnam. The Army posthumously promoted him to corporal. During his war time service, Levinson received a Purple Heart, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Distinguished Unit Citation, a Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and a Good Conduct Medal.

Levinson was buried in King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, New Jersey. His name is on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington D.C. on panel 34W, line 71.

His name is also on the New York Vietnam Veterans Memorial in New York City on the Walk of Honor.

We honor his service.
