I, too, find this site impossible (not difficult, but impossible) to use. Cannot get validated as a veteran. Customer service is non-existent. No way to contact anyone. They do NOT respond to the “emails” sent via their website.
I think the VA should STOP marketing this site.
Do Not, I repeat DO NOT utilize this site, it is a rip off. They say they guarantee the prices to be the lowest, lies, lies, lies, Priceline beats them all the time. The funny thing is , Priceline powers the site, don’t waste your time or money and customer service is a joke. They are trying to take advantage of Veterans, this should not be advertised on this site.
From the VA email:
“Disclaimer: The sharing of any non-VA information does not constitute an endorsement of products or services on the part of the VA”.
When introducing a friend to another friend, I never include a “disclaimer”.
Why would the VA introduce Veterans to a “Financial” service, without “vetting” that service?
How can I trust any one or an organization that doesn’t “vet” or take “responsibility“ for their actions?
How disappointing.
Awhile ago, I signed up for one of the “VA Recommended” services. I still am getting a sLoad of unwanted emails from this service.
Well well, got the infamous “Ooops something went wrong” msg when enrolling. Oh well.
This is a phishing expedition preying on our veterans. Don’t enter your personal information to this scam, you’ll end up getting no savings or a “something went wrong” notice. If you already signed up, ask your banks and financial institutions to engage two-factor authentication on your accounts. Also expect tons of spam in both paper and electronic media.
I have experienced the same as many others. Price on Expedia is the same. No discount here.
I havenever seen any of these sites actually work, I think they re just intened to get as much info as possible so they can spam you. While youre at it check out the American Legions Privacy Policy, you can’t get more dishonest than the American Legion.
If I make the reservation without this site, the room tax is $50.00 and it says so on the hotels website, BUT, if I use this site, I save $5.00 on the room cost but now pay $100.00 in taxes. Why? What am I paying that is NOT a tax?
So when can we expect an answer to the Ooops something went wrong msg when enrolling ?
All data entered as requested but……?
All the correct information was entered and the site came back with “ineligible”. This is very frustrating to offer something that doesn’t actually work! The VA should check out this site before offering it.
[Editor: Last night’s email went out to 12 million Veterans. It’s likely – and has happened several times with other services from previous emails – that our traffic overloaded their servers.]
Who can speak for the Vets and set this right?
I have used this site several times for late in the day hotel reservations and am very pleased with the site. So, Thank you!
compared with other sites and is the same price… No savings
SUBMITTED ALL THE CORRECT INFO BUT WAS NOT ACCEPTED.. I ALSO TRIED MY SERVICE NUMBER ( NOT THE SAME AS SS NUMBER BUT WAS NOT ACCEPTED.
Military service number went out in 1970, replaced by SS#. That is what I found out when I enlisted-Nov. 30, 1970.
Dear VA,
Regarding the many complaints listed in the “Comments” section:
This program is beginning to take on an odious aroma even before it gets off the ground.
Regarding the agencies that agreed to offer us those attractive discounts but don’t live up to their word:
VA, please hold their feet to the fire until they do or dump them so they don’t gum up the works so they
don’t wreck this program that holds so much promise for us.
Thanks,
Ron C
Not sure about this site. Honorable discharge, get heathcare at VA, ID.me access, but site still considers me inelgible
Prices for hotels are actually higher here than Expedia and Orbits with the same amount of travelers, room type, date, etc.
If you compare Priceline on their site and use it as a Civilian, a lot of deals were way cheaper by half. If you compare as Military, it doubles! All of them include taxes and fees. Why is this?
I’m a disabled vet and am not eligible. It isn’t for all vets, just for active and retired.
I am a Veteran and it allowed me to use it.
The system asks for my last four, my birth date, my last name. I have repeatedly entered this information correctly and the system response is “Oops..Something Went Wrong.” It then asks me for the same information again. I re-entered. Double checked for accuracy. Still get same error message. I don’t know what else to do.
This website requires me to submit my full SSN. Seems Fishy!
You say ALL veterans are eligible. American Forces Travel says ” Who is eligible” They say “active military. guard or reserve, USCG, retired military”
If you scroll to the bottom of the “who is eligible” list on the screen below it reads, all Veterans with a discharge status of honorable or general under honorable conditions. Just look deeper.
That’s awesome I can use some thing like this
Am I missing something? I just checked on this system for a flight from Denver to JFK for a March flight, also checked on the airline website. I got the same result. Zero saved.
Looks like great times ahead
I checked the car rentals and they are almost double the price on this so-called discount then they are on Booking.com without a veterans discount.
I’ll have to remember to try this out for my next trip away from home. It sounds like a good deal for us Vet’s.
Thanks.
Isn’t there a requirement to have the COVID-19 shot in order to fly?
Isn’t there also a requirement to have the shot to work with the VA?
I’m a vet
This is BS. I have tried multiple to book Denver to Phoenix. Always same message… no flights available.
I think it’s so great that the VA is doing so much for us veterans. I’ll be taking advantage of some of these deals. Just as soon as this pandemic is over.
Was not able to sign it keep trying to use my father last name with Sr after Bible I’m a Jr
How do I get an access code. They asked for that on an inquiry and I gave the info, last name, last 4, birthday and no reference cod populated.
Past time!
Thank you
Every dollar saved counts when on a fixed income for disabled retirees.
Good timing. Excellent deals. Thx
How do I talk to an actual person
What is the Airlines discount rate for veterans?
I never knew about this….Vietnam vet and fly a couple times a year. I’m excited to learn of this benefit.
Seems interesting
Compared price with same dates and same hotel in Hawaii. Travelocity about 220 dollars difference for a week
Hard to figure out what cites r available
This site is asking for my full SS number. I do not like to do that on the internet. Is there another way to verify or sign up?
As a Army Vet I tried to apply for a discount and couldn’t get enrolled
Do yourself a favor, have another window open, while you’re checking prices, with another travel website on it, to compare. In most cases, during recent travel, I found the Armed Forces Travel website to actually be equal to Expedia in price. A couple times, a few bucks more. Once, a few bucks less. Savvy shoppers don’t trust any site to automatically be the lowest price!
I appreciate these special deals and I think the VA is a wonderful benefit.
Thanks for this for all veterans who served honorably.
Good service
