January 25-29 is Tax Identity Theft Awareness Week and Veterans can learn how to protect themselves from being the victims of tax identity theft by joining VA and its partners in an online discussion. VA’s Identity Safety Service, the Office of Information Security and VA Privacy Service, along with the Federal Trade Commission and Treasury Inspector General of Trade Administration will host a Twitter chat on Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. EST.
Tax identity theft happens when someone uses your Social Security number to get a tax refund or a job. The Twitter chat will discuss the importance of identity safety during the upcoming tax season, as well as tips to remaining vigilant year round.
The online discussion is part of VA’s More Than a Number identity protection program, which serves to provide information to educate Veterans and their beneficiaries on how to protect themselves from identity theft.
Join us Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. EST on Twitter. Use the hashtag #VeteranIDTheft to follow along or ask questions. Please note, in order to ask questions during the Twitter chat you will need to have a Twitter account. If you do not already, you can sign up for one for free at www.twitter.com.

I filed an appeal 1 year ago on behalf of my husband. Robert went thru Radiasion & 2 seed implants in 2010. Jan 2015 the VA decided he was cured. They cut the benefit from 100% to 60%. At that time he was an Alzheimer’s Patient at the vA hospital in Bonham, TX. VA did not know if the Cancer was in other parts of the body. No MRI was performed ….. No Cat scan was performed, nothing!
Robert was in Vietnam 67/68. You can goggle The Battle of Dak To, Thrid Year. He was with the 173rd as the IO and published the story that was about Nov. 1967. This is a short version of one of two appeals that have been in for a year. Robert died Apr 10, 2015.
This has been a nightmare. Just one time for someone to listen to me.
