Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Marlene Reifenberger.

Marlene joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1975. Following recruit training she attended Common Basic Electronics Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Tactical Electronics Field at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

In 1976, when the weapons training program was expanded for women, Marlene successfully trained and earned proficiency badges as expert for several weapons systems.

In 1977, she served overseas for Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Belgium where she was assigned as Electronics Communications Analyst and Linguist in support of the execution of NATA join-based operations.

In 1979m she was selected as the Army’s Soldier of the Year in Europe.

Marlene transitioned out of the military in 1980 and continued her education earning Techni-Business Electronics degree and an MBA.

She still felt a need to serve and worked in State Veterans Service in Washington, Virginia, and California as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist. She now serves as a Veteran Career Advisor for the Texas Veterans Commission.
