Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is World War II Veteran John Dicks.
John enlisted in the Army during WWII and spent his time at Fort Bragg. There, he worked as a truck driver and also assisted at the Army hospital.
After he left the service, he worked for 30 years as a laborer and pipe fitter.
John is now 91-years-old and stays active by training for the VA National Veterans Golden Age Games and the Maryland Senior Olympics. At the recent Golden Age Games held in Biloxi, MS, John won gold in Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, and Bowling. His bowling score was 241.
When John is not engaging in sports, he is volunteering at the Loch Raven VA Community Living Center in Baltimore.
Thank you for your service, John!
