Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Billiekai Boughton. Billiekai served from 1989-1992 during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Billiekai served as a Network Switching Systems Operator. For her service, she was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Currently, Billiekai lives in San Diego, California, and is involved with several community organizations. She passionately serves as a board member for the San Diego Veterans Coalition and the California Women Veterans Leadership Council. Additionally, she is the founder of the San Diego Veterans Coalition Women’s Network and leader of the San Diego Veterans Women’s Networking Meetup. She has been recognized for her work in the community and was the 2016 University of California, San Diego (UCSD) nominee Women Leader of the United State of Women, the 2015 nominee for Women Veteran Leader of the Year, and the 2013 and 2014 UCSD Veteran of the Year.
