Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Barrett Y. Bogue.
Barrett served in the United States Marine Corps from 1999 to 2007 as a 0311 Infantryman.
He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and received a combat action ribbon. He returned from Iraq in 2005 to finish his master’s degree at the University of Tennessee. That’s when he noticed a lack of support networks for student Veterans and dedicated himself to improving that experience for Veterans in higher education.
Barrett is now in Washington D.C. where he works as the Vice President for Public Relations and Chapter Engagement at Student Veterans of America. In 2017, he helped a coalition of organizations pass lifetime education benefits for Veterans.
He lives in Virginia with his wife and daughter.
Thank you for your service, Barrett!
