Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Wayne Walker.

In 2007, Wayne finished his career of 25 years in the Army as a combat engineer. Wayne served as a Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the 3rd Brigade, Special Troops Battalion, 10th Mountain Division. He served in many leadership positions around the globe and ended his service as the task force Vanguard Command Sergeant Major in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2007.

Following his honorable discharge, Wayne became the Fisher House Manager for the Richmond Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center. There he oversaw the creation of the program from its inception and managed it for over nine years. Wayne has worked with an estimated 6,000 families at the Fisher House. He will soon be managing a second Fisher House where he will continue caring for Veterans and their families.

Some of Wayne’s decorations include the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal, among many others.

Thank you for your service, Wayne!
