Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Harold Walker. Harold was showcased on the Andy Fancher Presents blog and YouTube channel. Harold served during World War II.
In September of 1944, Harold was drafted and completed basic training in San Diego. Following his training, he began his service aboard the USS Bunker Hill. Harold and his crew engaged in battle across the Pacific against the Japanese.
On May 11, 1945, USS Bunker Hill was swiftly attacked by two Japanese aircrafts. The ship was bombed and subsequently hit by the two planes, causing numerous casualties aboard the ship. Miraculously, Harold survived the initial attack and saved countless lives as he ran back and forth to retrieve and revive fellow crew members.
Thank you for your service, Harold!
