Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran David Markey. David served during from 2011 to 2014.
David began his service on January 5, 2011 and served as a team leader for Alpha Company, 1-24 Infantry Battalion, 25th Infantry Division in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan for 11 months from 2011 to 2012 as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. David was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, two Army Achievement Medals with a bronze oak leaf cluste), an Army Commendation Medal, NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two stars, an Army Service Ribbon, and a National Defense Service Medal.
David left the service in 2014 and currently lives in Worcester, Massachusetts. He works as an IT systems administrator for Avatar Computing. David loves music is a talented drummer who played in a band called The Durrty Durrty before joining the military.
