Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Marine Corps Veteran Eugene DeFelice. Eugene enlisted during World War II and was called back for the Korean War. Eugene served in the Southern Pacific during World War II from April 1942 to July 1943 and remained active until 1945. He saw action at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands where he was injured. In 1950, Eugene was part of the 1st Marine Corps Reserve District when he was activated for Korea.
Eugene retired from the Marine Corps and became a school principal; a job he retired from. Currently, at the age of 97, Eugene lives in Martha’s Vineyard and snowbirds in Florida. He remains involved in the American Legion Post 257 and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Post 9261.
Thank you for your service, Eugene!
