Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran David Clarence Taylor. David served during the Vietnam War.
Born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, David was drafted into the United States Army on March 6, 1969. After completing basic training, David was assigned to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment as a tank machine gunner.
David was then deployed with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment to Vietnam. Prior to 1969, the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment had primarily taken part in counterinsurgency operations. By the time David arrived in Vietnam, the role of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment had expanded to include infantry support and full-scale assaults against North Vietnamese positions. Over the course of his deployment, David took part in a number of operations all around Vietnam.
Upon returning home, David began working for the French’s Food Company, where he spent 32 years before retiring. In his free time, David was an avid bull rider.
David passed on Sept. 23, 2018 at the age of 69.
We honor his service.
