Good news for Veterans in New York City, whose care was affected by flooding of Hurricane Sandy: the Manhattan VA Medical Center will reopen outpatient clinics in March.
From NY Daily News:
A date to reopen the 120-bed inpatient department and emergency services has not yet been set, but a spokeswoman for the hospital said they expect the full return of services for Manhattan-area veterans on or before July 1.
“Our goal has not changed. We continue to provide care for our veterans during this time and are working aggressively to restore the medical center to full operating capacity as quickly as possible,” said Martina Parauda, director of the medical center.
When we get more information on specific dates, we’ll be sure to update you folks. If this is your facility, be sure to get timely updates on Facebook and Twitter.

I could not get an appoinment to see my primary physician. I was sent to the Brooklyn VA and when I got there I was sent to the walk in clinic. The PA or NA don’t know my history. I called the nurse hotline and they took a message that was supposed to be sent to my pimary care physician. I didn’t recieve a call back until a few days later and I was not home at the time. I called back and left a message and I just got the runaround. I needed to see my primary care physician for an important matter and I feel I was not helped at all.
Gee only 9 months and they will be back to full functionality. I feel badly for all the vets that ended up going to the Bronx VA (otherwise known as The Bronx Zoo Annex). That place was overcrowded before, I can’t imagine what it must be like now. Great place too, armed guards and metal detectors when you enter. Years ago, we could have built a hospital in that period of time.
