There are enough unsold vehicles from each auto manufacturer every year to give any needy veteran over 15 vehicles to improve their lives. What I’m saying is there should be no contest, there should be a grateful (write-off) giving to all vets in need. Politicians can can serve 1 term and have a lifetime payment of their service salary, 100% health care, kids and grands get free college, and some have us as bodyguards for the duration of their life. Our 1 or more term service result is not nearly equivalent to that (non-ptsd, no limb-loss, numerous corrupt individual, no life on the line) service. We may not agree on what is best for nation, as is our right and freedom as Americans, but what we deserve is so disgusting and obviously below what it should be from our great country. Thank you all for your service (I wish those words had real weight to them), and god bless those that serve us in the VA (I wish that also had more weight). I’d like to at least know the reason. We have Toyota Dealers here in Alaska. We have a state Chamber of Commerce that is presumably a member of the U.S. Chamber.

Sad that this program is only available to military/veteran residents of the contiguous United States. The Nisei Veterans of WWII are still the most highly decorated unit for their time of service. Many of them are from all islands in the State of Hawaii. Then there are the conflicts that follow: Korea, Vietnam, GWAT veterans, and others that come from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Samoa, and others. Quite disrespectful to AAPI and retired veterans that live not on the continent, if you ask me.

Your value is no lesser. Lower 48 has the network in place. Crossing borders unfortunately complicates things where delivery to either or outweighs the purpose of the promotion. I figured perhaps in fairness, there’s drawings open only to AK or HI residents, respectively.
I am a Coast Guard veteran of the viet nam war, we patrolled the gulf of tonkin near the river opening at Vung Tao from 1967 to 1968 and got too close to shore one taking a round in our stack around December causing us to have repairs done in Sasabo Japan. Very proud of my service time and ever so grateful for the medical services the VA provides veterans.
Most companies that say, “We hire veterans” only do so for public relations reasons. I wish I had the numbers, but after 90 days they let the #Veteran go. So may they should say, “We hire veterans, but we don’t keep them.” Civilians don’t like military people working for them. The civilian workforce is jealous because we get there early, leave late, exceed all standards, ask questions to learn the rules faster, and learn the job next to us and above us just in case. However, the last part has people thinking we are going to take their job. Those of us that have been to combat have the stigma of being looked at as ticking time bombs waiting to go postal, especially if we say we have weapons at home and like to hunt or keep up our shooting skills. In the military, if you are early you ARE late. If you don’t learn the job next to you or above you then when people go down the mission won’t be completed. As for our like of weapons and our capability, why don’t civilians look at other civilians the same way? There have been civilians that have “gone postal.” All the attributes that make us “Hard Chargers,” “Squared Away,” or “Leadership” seem to make us too much of a great worker and are a threat to the civilian workforce. No wonder so many of my brothers and sisters are homeless.
This is just another PR stunt to gloss over the fact they may hire veterans, but they don’t necessarily keep them. I’d love there to be accountability for companies that SAY they hire veterans to see how many are kept and why either way.

I served in the Air Force and was in a terrible accident spending 9 months @v David Grant Hospital….Great staff. I have been blessed as a 100% D.A.V. I have found great fellowship among all Vets in the Veterans golf program and the PGA Hope program for all branches of Vets.

I sprayed defoliant (agent orange), in Vietnam to kill grass around our camp and I only receive 40%, while others I know get 100%. I had covid bad,in hospital 25 days, have lung damage from covid and possibly from agent orange.

Being a VET is a great benefit in going to college or getting a great paying job and should be recommended for a lot of our highschool grads as a good way to start a career. The services also offers a good career path.
Its funny how totally disable veterans want free hunting licenses. Apparently they arent handicapped enough to walk around for hours looking for something to kill. Maybe they should take their walking legs into an employent office and get a job. I get 20% disability because the ability to have children was taken away from me by the military doctors. Funny how many kids those disabled veterans can have and complain they cant afford them.

I served 21 months at camp Lejeune from 1969 to 1971. why doesn’t the VA give me medical help for the poisoned water I drank, showered, and used. I have many medical issues!
I attended a local VA open house 2 years ago just to see what was offered to me, other than coffee and donuts. They saw I was released from active duty in 1977 from Camp Lejeune and told me I was eligible for full medical regardless of income. Have you applied at your local VA for benefits?

I would like to see military salaries increased significantly. It’s a shame that new recruits with families have to struggle financially. It’s also a shame that our homeless vets don’t get better services.

I have tried to enter comments. As a disabled Viet Nam Vet there is still some resentment and a lot of distrust in our elected officials, Democrat and Republican, which is why I affiliate with no party. But I will forever stand behind our Armed forces and Veterans. America has fallen and recovered many times and the will of American Veterans and service members have been a large part. Americans ability to evolve and create jobs building America and American products that overcome the hopelessness we have seen before. The trades are as much in demand as academics and even more so when rebuilding So, rebuild America with American products and American pride, hire the Vet.

An in retirement , when your income retires with ya,….they still have the aldasity to threaten to take your home or property if ya don’t pay up…? How is this American ? Serving was one of the best things for so many of us. Side affects of war for all who served are not worth the years of suffering. Free stuff is great but the bare necessary should be provided by the VA. Been through all the programs and the meds are still wrong. We are NOT all the same! Some meds work for some but not all!!!!! HELP US
All states should have property taxes paid for all that serve and served. We put our lives on the line on any given day in combat and in training for combat.

I wish our government would do more for the vets instead of sending so much money to other countries.
Served as a combat infantryman in Vietnam (67-68) and over 8 years total. It was disgusting to hear our President call me “stupid” for not getting out of serving as he did (by lying about the bone spurs he never had). It was also sad to hear him say soldiers who died were “suckers” and those volunteering to serve today were “losers” who couldn’t make it on the outside. He chastised McCain for not supporting his “birther” movement and derided his heroic service as a captured pilot saying he “liked people who wern’t captured”. America was great until he came along and fomented violence against our democracy – may this wonderful country never suffer through another period like that again.

Troops that served in combat in authorized wars like Vietnam in Field Artillery should be given CAB ” Combat Artilleryman Badge ” awards just like the Infantry Troops were given CIB ” Combat Infantyman Badge ” awards.
That is horrible contest. Did anyone actually read the fine print on that thing? Do people actually realize that when you win a large prize it holds a 40% federal tax on it plus anything your state levy’s against it. Just yikes on so many levels. They’re basically saying “here’s a vehicle on us and thanks for the tax break you’re giving us from donating this and having you pay the taxes on is”. Absolutely despicable.

Why does does the VA System allow people like Tri West Care to intervene and interfere with the patient-doctor relationship?? I think we pay this outfit too much money needlessly and it sure is a mess every time I have to work with them.
They even put out phony information and actually completely false information about how they try to contact you when they don’t and they never confess up to all the mistakes they make. Sad indeed and I believe another rip off of our government services.

State of Nevada needs to work on getting veterans benefits. like no property tax for 100% Disabled vets and surviving spoused and family members. also a better education benefits for veterans family members. so far State of Texas and Florida has the state of Nevada beat by a mile.

I severed my active duty at Fort Dix, NJ then 8 month in Fort Carson, CO, from there the balance of my active duty was in Germany as and CO’s driver in the MP’s. 1963 to 1966 then 3 more years inactive. I wish I would have went on for a full 30 years.

My situation “I drive a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer with 216,087 miles, my oil pressure drops to zero at idle, my valve cover was leaking and my neighbor help me to replace it, but we noticed the both cams intake and exhaust have severely damaged and including the rockers arms. I did not have any choice but put it back together and cross my fingers for a better tomorrow. This is my only transportation. Thank you for listening

I live in New Jersey, Our taxes are very high. If a 100% disabled veteran gets 100% off, why can’t a veteran with lesser percentage gets the same amount off of his taxes. I am 40% disabled why can I get 40% off my taxes?

If the civilian population would realize in full what a military background would do for their organization, vets would have the lowest rate of unemployment.
Agreed. However poor leadership and morale in civilian jobs most often leads to a breakdown in the company. Most CEOs do not value a team they look at employees like capital and discourage networking in the ranks, which leads to coordination for better healthcare and more benefits. Entry and Mid levels positions do not pay as much as military service for many, and veterans struggle with housing, medical care, service injuries, and the stress associated with it. Combat service makes you want to dig in and ride out hard times: the fox hole complex. So veterans get stuck. Civilians are hard to work with in many cases because they do not value the team. Veterans are programmed to lead, suck it up, or fix those who malfunction whereas in service we do not let the slowest, weakest, and most difficult to deal with go unchallenged. We pick them up carry them and inspire them to step it up. Civilians are not perceptive to this for the most part. CEOs will fire someone who does not do the job, and their workers develop a herd mentality rather than a servant leadership mentality.
Spot on analysis
When you get out of the military all of your training should count towards civilian equivalent training. Truck drivers, mechanics, engineers, paramedics, and more get so much training in the military. It’s crazy that it just gets ignored and a vet has to start all over again with certification and classes.

They should!! I lobbied to our reps in Frankfort for free Hunting and Fishing licensing for 100 per centers. Didn’t get a reply after I sent it the second time. Typical talking the talk for votes and then not walking the walk!! Sad.
