*At this time only Veterans with dementia who live in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia (Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County) and Maryland (Montgomery County, Prince Georges County) are eligible to receive a free companion robotic pet.
Veterans suffering from dementia can now receive free companion robotic pets through Capital Caring Health. Families within Capital Caring Health’s service area from Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia are eligible for the robotic dogs and cats. These pets are proven in numerous clinical studies to provide joy, comfort and interactive companionship to dementia sufferers, and peace of mind to their families and caregivers.
Capital Caring Health is one of the nation’s oldest non-profit advanced illness care and hospice providers. In our service area of Washington D.C., Maryland (Montgomery County, Prince Georges County), and Virginia (Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County), we care for approximately 15,000 patients every year, including 3,000 to 4,000 Veterans.
The pets arrive ready to enjoy and interactively react to human touch and voice, similar to a real pet. As we like to say – No need to feed or walk or clean up after them – just enjoy their love.
A Veteran in our service area suffering from dementia is eligible to receive a pup or a cat free of charge thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations like our partner in this effort – The Northern Virginia Technology Council.
