Today, Arlington National Cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater celebrates its 100th anniversary. In 1920, for the first time, the nation’s Memorial Day ceremony (then known as Decoration Day) was held at the brand new Memorial Amphitheater. VA and the Veterans Day National Committee are now accepting entries for the 2025 Veterans Day Poster Contest. Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on May 2, 2025.

This year, 56 communities across 29 states and the District of Columbia will host VA-recognized Veterans Day observances to pay tribute to America’s heroes. 

The Veterans Day National Committee is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Veterans Day Poster Contest. Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on April 1, 2024.

This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is on Sat. Dec. 16, and will take place at more than 4,200 participating locations across the country. This total, which includes Arlington National Cemetery, is more than 500 above last year’s total.

This year, Veterans Day ceremonies recognized by VA will be held in 66 communities throughout 34 states and the District of Columbia to honor the nation's veterans.
