Statement by the Honorable R. James Nicholson, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, on the Presidential Award to John and Agnes Jurek of Brooklyn Park, Minn.:
“I would like to thank and commend John and Agnes Jurek on the volunteerism that led to their recognition by President Bush with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their volunteer efforts at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis during the past 16 years. This spirit of volunteerism has propelled VA through 75 years of service and is certain to provide a model for the next 75 years of service to Minnesota’s veterans. The Jureks’ devotion and dedication speak directly to VA’s mission, the most noble in government – caring for those who have served our Nation in uniform.”
